He played through the sprained ankle.
He slashed to the basket. He made great passes. He carried the team in Game 4. He struggled with his shot in Games 5
and 6. And in the end, the true champion stands at the stripe and hits two
free throws............swooosh.......swoosh. In his fourth year in the league, Kobe did
what took Michael Jordan six seasons to do......win an NBA Championship. Whether this Lakers team turns into a dynasty, Game 6 of the 2000 NBA Finals will be in the basketball history books. Every great championship team had a one-two punch. The Lakers have Kobe and Shaq, who combine to make a great fist. Kobe has turned his high-flying dunks and amazing cross-over highlight films into the moves a complete team players. He runs the offense, plays great defense, gets to the basket, dunks over the leagues tallest centers and, when it counts, hits a free throw or two. What we are witnessing is a new era in the NBA. We all lived and breathed every move MJ made. Now it's time to inhale Kobe. |

"THE ZEN-MASTER" What else can be said about Phil Jackson besides he's a genius. He's crafted a winning coaching style that's incomparable. What more respect can be given to man that can make a team of big-ego athletes jump on their toes like ballerinas and meditate while practicing yoga. No complaints because he gets the job done. Only one coach in NBA history has won more rings than him. And he's only three away from beating that record. Learn more about Phil Jackson

HERE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! They finally did it. After four seasons of molding and developing, Kobe and Shaq have brought home the gold. As the dawn of a new dynasty approaches, no two players deserve this more. Shaq ends the 2000 season with three trophies: league MVP, finals MVP and an NBA World Championship. |
Kobe's debut
album, "Visions," has been pushed back again. Originally
scheduled for a spring release, the collection was rescheduled for a
June 13 release date. Now the album is scheduled for an Aug. 22
release, one day before he celebrates his 22nd birthday. "K.O.B.E.,"
the album's lead single, featured actress-model Tyra Banks singing the
chorus. The album was pushed back to accommodate the Lakers basketball
schedule, according to label representatives.
Kobe purchased 50% of Olympia Milano, the Italian league team his father played for. It is the first time a pro basketball player has acquired a substantial interest in another pro team. "I loved growing up in Italy and have always had a special place in my heart for the country and its people," Kobe said in a statement he released. His father will serve as team vice president. |
"...............it's flattering. I don't want to be the next Mike.
I just want to be the next Kobe!"
