Can Hardly BELIEVE I'm Doing This
As well as telling you a bit about Aussie Rules
Football, I hope I can share a bit of Australiana with you. I intend to
explain some things that make Australia UNIQUE, and fun.
How about a few words.....
Shiela - Affectionate name
used when referencing the Fairer Sex, Women
Example - Boy they're great lookin Shielas
Bloke -The opposite of Shiela,
but often used with less affection
Example - You Blokes want a Beer?
Drongo - Affectionate term
used when someone does something silly
Example - Ah you Drongo, that's not a
Knife, THIS IS A KNIFE!
Hooroo - A term used when saying Goodbye
Example - Hooroo Mate, see you tomorrow
Crook - Used to describe feeling Sick
Example - Oh, got on the Grogg last night,
and boy do I feel Crook today.
Grogg - Definition, Beer or other Alcoholic Beverages, but generally Beer.
China - Rhyming Slang for
Mate.
Example - Hey, me Old China Plate.
(China Plate means Mate, China is short for China Plate) Simple!
Strewth - An Exclaimation
Example - Strewth, did you see that ? !
