JUSHIN "THUNDER"LIGER (keichi yamada) The time ,1989, the place Tokyo japan, New japan front office, and similar to Tiger mask the NJPW guys had obtained the rights to yet another comic character and who did they shove under the horned mask and red and gold costume????? Keichi Yamada of course and the Liger character was an immediate success and it wasn't very long before(1989) yamada-san had some gold around his waist, that being the IWGP belt, he would follow this up with 6 more reigns at the top. 1991 and 92 saw him win the Super J tournament, inventing the shooting star press along the way.   During the 94 tournament, while doing a simple leap frog Jushin Liger snapped his ankle in two places......this slowed him down for 10 months, missing an Aussie tour as well(RATS) And in 1996 he was diagnosed with a benign tumour on the brain, he is still considered to be one of the top 10 wrestlers on earth today..... like they say "the only thing that can hold Liger-san down is gravity"         Thunder with the I.W.G.P BELT               good enough for dragon good enough for me!!!
