Eric may still have an aura of invincibility about him whenever
he steps out in a Manchester United shirt, and he may have captained the side to their fourth
league title in five years, but the truth is Le God has not lived up to his impeccably high
standards.
Last year he almost won the title single-handedly but this year we have only seen his flash skills
and even flasher goals in fits and starts. Yes, there were classic strikes but in too many games Eric
has looked subdued. Who knows the reasons ? Rumours have been rife that the club could well be ready
to sell him this summer and he has stated himself that he does not know what the future holds. But
at the end of the day, every United fan and player will want such a highly influential figure in their
side next season as they once again mount a challenge for the elusive European Cup.
