What should a Father be?
by Kenneth E. Martin
A father should be an engineer, so as to build a strong foundation, evaluate stress, to ensure that the foundation can handle the load.
A father should be a carpenter, so as to erect the family unit, selecting only the best materials, be able to sand over the rough spots while keeping the unit standing straight, plumb and true.
A father should be a gardener, so as to plant the seeds of tranquillity and love, watering each plant with the essence of patience and enjoy the fragrance of each blossoming bud.
A father should be a mechanic, so as to keep things running smooth, diagnosing all the problems and fitting the right part, a shining knight with tools, always ready to come to the rescue rather it is dark or light.
A father should be a teacher, so as to explain all the rules, leading by example with honesty and truth, defining the lesson that everyone must learn, and giving each pupil special attention each in their own turn.
