Pens News

Game 2 of the east Semi-Finals, Pittsburgh vs. Toronto

Last night in game two the penguins tok a beating as far as the score turned out to be from the toronto Maple Leafs, although they were not out played. The Pens as far as I am concerned dominated play in the second and third period, but couldn't come up with a goal, most of the time becuase of the outstanding goaltending from Joeseph.
The penguins weel out numbered the leafs in scoring chances, but as the penguins are known to no be able to come up with goals sometimes. This along with the goaltending of Toronto, the penguins came up short in their effort to take a two game lead in the series. With a loss of 4-2, the penguins will be returning to home ice to face of again against the leafs with the series tied.

Opinions on the better Team

Are the pens the Dominate team?

A pens fan writes:
Of course we are all going to say that the Pens are gonna win, and they are. If Barrasso was an average goalie, then how did he shut out your great offensive team in game 1? Maybe because at the least he is above average. I'll grant that Cujo is the better goalie, but Barrasso can get the job done. Just wait until game three when the Pens take a 2-1 lead. Just remember that if half our defense didn't go down at the end of the season, we would've probably finished above the maple leafs. Don't under estimate the Pens. Let's go Pens

Another Fan writes:
The leafs are indeed a faster team, and has better goaltending at times, but the penguins skill players, and determinatation to win, along with Jamior Jagr, Martin Straka, Kolvalev, Alexsey Morozov, and Jan Hrdina(who is also in his first playoff season and is one of the best rookies out there) are going to put an end to the leafs medioker season. The eight seed penguins who battle for FIRST for a majority of the season ended the season only 1 point behind the bruins and the sabres, and only 5 points out of reach of the leafs. Only because of a tremendous amount of injuries to star players, and on the penguins, every player is part of the success. So say what you will about your "more skilled all around organization" but they'll be at home after game 5.

Or are the Lefs a better Hockey Club?

A Lefs Fan Writes:
I urge you to read this message with an open-mind, for I only offer you the truth expressed in an array of words that is not meant to injure. But it will. As I have read on this board, the Leafs have been discredited as a team that has won by "fluke goals" and that Toronto will lose to the "outstanding" Penguins. I honor only that the Penguins are a decent, eight-seeded team. The Leafs in game 2 have proven that they can produce outstanding offense, that Barasso is only an average goalie and that the Penguins days of upset are numbered. This will be a tight-series, but Game 2 proved that the Leafs are much faster and can pick apart a very offense-oriented defensive corp. I offer my apologies to any Penguins fans who feel molested by the no-call by the referees. But by pinning the loss solely on the fact that there was no penalty is a poor outlet for your anger. The Leafs won the game because they have a better goalie, a more potent offense (three points by a Bohonos playing his FIRST PLAYOFF game), and a more skilled all-around organization. I'm sorry, Penguin fans, but the Pittsburgh season is only three wins away from being over.

Or Compromise?

A Nutrual Fan writes:
I think it would be good for the fans of both teams to acknowledge that these are two very good, well-matched teams. Both have some excellent offensive talent. Pittsburgh's offense is probably better, imo, when Jagr is healthy. I would say they are fairly well matched now. Both have an underrated, young defence. Again, it looks to me like they are fairly equal. Cujo is perhaps a little better than Barasso, but when Barasso is at his best he is as good as anyone. All in all we have two exciting teams playing. Let's enjoy it. P.S. Let's just hope that the Leafs always score the first goal. This makes the Penguins to play more open hockey, which is a lot more fun to watch.

What do I think?

All I have to say is, Lets Go Pens!
