Peter started playing for Team Modo in Sweden when he was 17.

While celebrating his 18th birthday, Peter received news that he was selected sixth overall in the 1990 entry draft by the Philadelphia Flyers.  However, Peter did not believe that he was good enough to play in the NHL.  He opted to stay in Sweden and play in the Swedish Elite League.

He was sought by some agents for the Philadelphia Flyers in 1991.  After coming to Philadelphia, without playing a game, he was traded 10 days later to the Quebec Nordiques (which brought Lindros to the Flyers).  The Flyers traded him along with Mike Ricci, Ron Hextall, Steve Duchense, two other players, two draft choices and fifteen million dollars.

Peter played for the Swedish Olympic team at the Winter Olympics in 1994, where he scored the winning goal in the gold medal game vs. Canada during a shoot-out for his country.  In return, he is featured on a
