
Stance Descriptions
Stances are very important. Stances make the moves stable and more powerful. Without good stances you could easily be knocked off ballence.
PARALLEL READY STANCE:
Spread your feet to sholder width apart.
Your feet should also be facing foward.
Extend both arms down in front of you.
Your legs should have a slight bend to them.
SITTING STANCE:
Spread your feet to one-and-a-half sholder widths apart.
Your feet should also be facing foward.
Your legs should be bent.
FRONT STANCE:
In a right front stance, the right foot is in front.
In a left front stance, the left foot is in front.
The legs are sholder width wide and one-and-a-half sholder widths long.
The front leg is bent and the back leg is straight.
The weight is distributed evenly on both legs.
BACK STANCE:
In a right back stance, the right foot is in back.
In a left back stance, the left foot is in back.
The legs are one-and-a-half sholder widths long, but not wide.
The front leg is bent and the back leg is bent.
The weight is distributed 70% on the back leg and 30% on the front.
SPOT-TURN:
Cross the front foot so that the feet no not width apart.
Turn to face the other way while the other foot spreds to sholder width wide.
This move changes the stance, so that you are facing the other way without moving from that spot.
CLOSE READY STANCE A:
Keep the legs together, but slightly bend the knees
Make a fist with the right hand, and a open hand with the left hand.
Put the fist about a half foot length in front of the chin.
Put the open hand over the fist, about an inch apart.
The elbows are straight out to the sides.
FIXED STANCE:
In a right fixed stance, the right foot is in front.
In a left fixed stance, the left foot is in front.
The legs are two sholder widths long, but not wide.
The front leg is bent and the back leg is bent.
The wait is distributed 60% on the back leg and 40% on the front.
BENDING READY STANCE A:
This stance is a set up for a side piercing kick.
Bring the knee up into the chest of the leg that is going to kick.
Keep your guard up in front.
X-STANCE:
In a left x-stance, the left foot is crossed in front.
In a right x-stance, the right foot is crossed in front.
The font foot is flat, and the back foot is on the ball.
Both legs are bent, and the feet are half a shoulder width apart.
CLOSE READY STANCE B:
Just like close ready stance A, except the hands are lower.
The hands are in front of the stomach.
REAR FOOT STANCE:
90% of the weight is on the back leg.
The front leg rests on the ball of the foot.
The back leg is bent.
The legs are one sholder width long, but not wide.
LOW STANCE:
It is a lot like a back stance.
The legs are two sholder widths long, but not wide.
