The self-professed showsstopper comes to you once again to provide a little feedback from the Monday night wrestling show.
The fallout from WrestleMania has begin. The fans are crying about The Rock not winning the title. They are crying that the Two-Falls for the Intercontinental and Curopean Belts Match did not live up to expectations. When did fans get to be some picky, that if a match doesn't involve perfection, that it "doesn't live up to expectations"? I personally thought the three-way between Jericho, Benoit, and Angle was good. It wasn't a classic, but not every match wreslers have, has to be an instant classic. Enjoy the match for what it was -- a way to develop new storylines and establish new feuds. The same thing applies to The Rock not winning the title. Vince McMahon bucked tradition last night, and a heel walked away from WrestleMania with the belt still around his waist. In that moment, Triple H increased the value of the title so much, it's amazing fans are complaining so much. The Rock will get the gold. Make no mistake about it. But he is so over, that with or without the belt he is still the people's favorite. Triple H is, to borrow a quote from another web site "becoming a modern-day Ric Flair". His heelishness is second to no one, and his three straight title match wins on Pay-Per-View only solidify his status as a bad ass. I like the title longevity bit myself. It makes the belt worth more when it does change hands now. RAW had the wrestling world to itself last night. While nothing shcoking happened, the show was overall very entertaining. For the first time in months, I really enjoyed Big Show. the humorous side of him showed through, and Show got over in two minutes more than he got over in his first year here. Simply amazing what a little attitude adjustment can do for you. And Chyna is aligning herself with Eddie Guerrero now. I happen to enjoy it. It will put the focus of Chris Jericho solely where it belongs....on him. Go Jericho Go. Go Jericho Go. Nitro was a recap of the past four-plus years on TNT. TOny Schiavone and Mark Madden went over some of the highlights including: the first-ever Nitro, the original NWO invasion, and the cruiserweight division. It was interesting to watch, but towards the end, I was reminded why WCW is in the funk it is right now. My only real gripe with the show was that Madden and Schiavone constantly hyped Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo. I could go into a long-winded rant aas to why I think they will fail, but it's been covered to death. Next week we'll see what the two alleged "geniuses" have come up with. Who's hot: The Rock -- Belt or no belt, he brings the fans to their feet. Triple H -- The only man in wrestling to relish his role as a true heel. Big Show -- SNL was the best thing to happen to Show. He may now reach the status of Rock and Triple H in the fans of the eyes. Miss Hancock -- To quote Depeche Mode: "I just can't get enough". Edge & Christian -- Now that thes two are speaking, they are going to run with it. Who would have thunk these two could have personality? Tazz -- Come on WWF. Listen to the pops he gets. This man needs the creative team behind him. Push Tazz Who's not: Ric Flair -- I didn't want to put him here. But he, like Hogan, is going through the motions. Hulk Hogan -- He remains on this list until he permenantly retires. WCW -- How many times do I have to be reminded that Bischoff and Russo are working together? My random thoughts for the week... Imagine the possibilities now that Chris Jericho will be on his own. Will Benoit continue to get over on his wrestling skills or will he have to get some mic personality to get over? Miss Hancock, Miss Hancock, Miss Hancock, Miss Hancock, Miss Hancock What is the WWF doing with the Radicals? Perry Saturn seems to have little focus, and Benoit has his own music intro. Could this be the beginning of the split between the four? Could a turn be in store for Rikishi or Too Cool? It certainly was hinted at last night. Stephanie McMahon gets more attractive every week I see her . That's all I have for now. Until next time. I'm Ken. The main event, the showstopper, and the icon that can still write. |
