This is the authentic Region 1 release and is part of the Fox Studio Classics line. It is sealed and is now officially out of print. It was only available through Fox Entertainment with the purchase of 3 other movies. It was never sold in stores. This is not a cheap import. You had to mail the proof of purchases, then they'd send this dvd to you. That offer has now expired.

One of the most poetic films ever made, Sunrise received honors at the very first Academy Awards ceremony in 1929 as the "Most Unique and Artistic Production," the first and only award for this category.

A farmer (George O'Brien) intends to drown his wife (Janet Gaynor) so he can be with a seductive city woman (Margaret Livingston). But although he considers carrying out the hideous crime, the farmer is unable to go through with it. Then, as husband and wife encounter a life-threatening rainstorm, their love and loyalty are put to the ultimate test. This tender story of betrayal and redemption also earned Oscars for Best Actress (Gaynor) and for Best Cinematography.
