Most of you are familiar with my larger-than-life reptilian kaiju friend GAMERA but you may not be familiar with me. My name is Carl Craig, otherwise known as American Boy Scout Jim Morgan in the 1968 Daiei production "Gamera tai Uchu Kaiju Viras." You probably know the film as "Destroy all Planets." You might know me as Kurl Krane or Carl Clay. The translation from the Japanese katakana characters back to English is a little lost at times, hence my other names.

I was re-introduced into the kaiju community through Jim Cironnella, director of the Asian Film Fantasy Expo (AFFE). I have attended the last three AFFE events in Saddlebrook, NJ as a guest of Jim's. I signed autographs and did presentations on my experiences with making the movie. It has been quite an experience and I enjoy all my new friends and fans. I recommend the event to anybody who has never attended. Check the AFFE link provided to see what that show is all about. I have also been invited to attend the G-Fest '03 in Chicago next year. I recently did an on-line interview with Henshin On-Line, you can go there and read about my experience in my acting debut at Daiei through the link I have posted. Through my experiences with shows, interviews and presentations, I have found that some original photos that I have from my personal scrapbook, interest a lot of fans. I made those photos available at the AFFE event and personalized the autographs on them and they were a big hit. I have decided to make those photos available below. The photo at the left shows Masao and I in a "Heap O' Trouble." Notice the rayguns the aliens have. I still have one of those guns which was autographed for me by Noriyaki Yuasa, Hongo Kojiro and Takastuka Toru. I also have my famed "Swinger" Polaroid camera that was Jim Morgan's trademark. They are both pictured in the photo below.

Most of these shots were provided by Henshin On-Line and were taken at recent AFFE events in New Jersey. I hope to see some of you there in the coming years. I enjoyed my experience as Jim Morgan and I am willing to talk about my adventures to almost anyone who will listen. Come see me at the events next year.

I have numerous items from my experiences on the set and off at Daiei. A 45 RPM record that essentially encapsulates the entire movie, a comic book, cards, script books, photos and other memorabilia. I always bring these items to AFFE and will also take them to G-Fest. The fans love the stuff. Soon, I will offer re-prints of some great 4x6 B&W shots from mt scrapbook here on the site. I attended the University of South Carolina on an Air Force R.O.T.C. scholarship. My dream was to be an Air Force pilot. I lived that dream and the picture above was taken by my father when I returned to Shaw AFB South Carolina on a trip. I was an instructor pilot and flew the T-38 Northrop Talon from the Instructor Pilot seat in the rear of the aircraft. The student pilot sat in the front cockpit. I also flew the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom. I'll post a picture of that one soon. Look for me at G'Fest 2003!
