Players in the Championships:
Entry | Player | Online Gameroom/Handle | Bio/Accolades |
---|---|---|---|
| Kirk Walton | 2003 PVPC Champion, 2002 PVPC runner-up. Quite simply, Walton has owned this tournament the past two years. However, his poker pedigree took a big hit last November after a 19th place finish in his own Turkey Texas Hold 'em Tourney- a finish he's certainly looking to atone for. | |
| Josh Hagel | 2002 PVPC Champion, 2003 TTH runner-up. A Hold 'em specialist, Hagel won the consolation table last year in addition to the accolades listed. Rumors are that he's contemplating a run at the World Series of Poker this Memorial Day weekend...but to win a second PVPC title, he's going to have to get it done in the stud round! | |
| Chris Baxter | PokerRoom.com; bax72 | 2003 PVPC 3rd place. Baxter took a rough beat at the TTH tournament, going out in a hellaciously huge hand. Like a true player, though, Bax picked up the pieces, made his bones at side games, and once again is loaded for bear. |
| Dan Hinrichs | PokerRoom.com; junior1039 | 2003 Turkey Texas Hold 'em (TTH) 3rd place. After finishing in the money in November, Hinrichs looks to defend his home turf and show that last year's ass last finish was just a fluke. He can be found looking for games anywhere from Northwoods hunting shacks to city back rooms, as well as rounding on PokerRoom.com as junior1039. |
| Mike Biebl | 2002 PVPC 3rd place. It's an official "earmuffs" event as Biebl's sacked it up and committed to the tournament. A self-proclaimed "great player on and off the table", Biebl's traversed the upper Midwest under the guise of "business travel", but in reality he's rounding from NoDak to Ohio. | |
| Levi Dickie | Kansas's finest makes a return trip to the tourney after taking a year off last year. Levi's looking to re-create his 2002 magic on the losers' table, winning that table in a dogfight with Francis Morice (on a low pair, nonetheless). He'll also be ready to clean up in the post-tournament foosball games! | |
| Francis Morice | After the loser table debacle of 2002, Morice is gunning for Levi big-time this year. An accomplished tech support guru, Morice has no problem reading people's BS and calling them on it. He's also looking for a few chumps to hustle on the dart board when the cards are all said and done. | |
| Chad Gibson | A veteran of many college baseball team poker games, Gibson's a tournament rook looking to strike it big in his first appearance. With a new baby at home, Gibson can yell out "baby needs a new pair of shoes!" as the river's turned over in an all-in showdown and actually back that line up. An aggressive player, making a big open on a pair of 3s is no problem for this guy. | |
| Mike Kennedy | After working his way to a top 10 finish in the 2003 TTH tournament, Kennedy looks to bull his way onto the top table at this one. A Scotty Nguyen-like player, he'll get inside your head with trash talk and lots of bluffs, and if he beats you on a 3-8 unsuited bluff, you can be sure he'll show the cards to really get under your skin. | |
| Dan Roberts | PokerRoom.com; bipper1028 | A veteran of many tournaments, Bip's still waiting for that run of hot cards to take him to the top. After being ousted early in the 2003 TTH, Bip picked it up and regained some dignity knocking player after player out in the side game. Bip also plays the psychological game, analyzing strategy to the point of making his opponents' games tilt. |
| Jason Zellmer | My poker history is brief... made the final table at the Post-Valentines at my house... got drunk. Lost most of my bank to a full house that beat my A high flush at Wally's. Although I did break even by winning the pick-up loser pool. So, I've yet to lose money at one of these deals, which is nice. Other than that, I've spent way to much time watching Celebrity Poker, which has ruined any proper theory I may have had! | |
| Justin Robinson | PokerRoom.com; nitsujrobi | Robi's another one of those salty vets that's yet to break though with a trip to the medal stand. With lots of experience in the online rooms, the basement games, and armed with a smack-o new set of poker chips, this could be the year that he leaves with more than a story of how he got put out. |
| Ben Peterson | Ben's 4th place finish- just out of the money- at the TTH tourney has been grating away at him for the last few months. He's been counting down days until this next tournament, and in the meantime he's been earning his entry fee cleaning up small games. A savvy player, one can be certain that he'll be around at the end. | |
| Jeff Krenner | A grizzled vet of many tournaments at Canterbury, Jeff certainly will be a force to be reckoned with at the PVPC. If recent history is any indication, his table will certainly see a lot of "Doyle Brunsons" pay off! | |
| Matt Peterson | Financial advisor by day, rounder by night. Rumor is that he paid for his Series VII books with money won in the Minneapolis suburbia games. Ben's brother, you can certainly expect to see some good sibling rivalry between them, especially if they end up at the same table. | |
| Christian Edmiston | If you've ever looked up the term "dead money" in the dictionary, you know that Christian's picture is there. That won't keep him from talking a little trash at the occasional neighborhood game. Still, maybe a Cinderella story is in the cards for this tournament newbie. | |
