joe I watched one of those scapbook programs on sky the other day, where old players sit with Bobby Charlton and Dickie Davies, who does an admirable impression of a grandad in his chair. Bobby gets letter off old people asking if he remembers old people who were footballers. All in all it's not much cop but for the football. Anyway, John Richards was on it the other day looking at Wolves beating Man City in the League Cup final in 74. He was a good player and Wolves were quite a good team. That is my message.. Also 'Ozzie' did look quite good, maybe Newcastle should buy him, he can't be any worse than Warren Barton afterall. Would anyone like to comment on the sheer patheticness of Mr Barton? |
31/03/98 |
tree Joe: Ozzie is a truly remarkable player, it amazes me that more people outside of Wolves aren't talking about him. One of the best midfielders we've ever had. Ask Reading fans. |

tree HELLO EVERYONE! My dad lived in Australia for three years when he was younger, and so by definition that makes it a great country! |

27/03/98 |

Donna I think you'll find that Grahams are golden. Have you written that Wolves FA Cup anthem yet? The Yam Yam Rap? Yowl Never Walk Alown? |
23/03/98 |
SeanP silence is golden. crap on Saturday. Even if they have go their minds elsewhere, there's no excuse for the last two performances. |

22/03/98 |
joe haha.. considering you posten that message yesterday!!! Oh well. Wolves, are they the most frustrating team in the World to support? Man City you expect to lose every game, so it might be worse but not more frustrating. A Wolves fan going to a game must tear their hair out and say "I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN" or so I imagine it |

tree Maybe you're right...it really has never been dull for us in this division! What doesn't destroy us makes us stronger! |
19/03/98 |
Janne "You get more fun with division one!"? Why is Man City then going down to div 2? It must be hilarious there! |
19/03/98 |
Donna Gosh, that's clever! |
19/03/98 |
_ maybe wolves don't want to get promoted? perhaps they had a big meeting where they decided that division 1 was "more fun!". hey, theres a great slogan: "you get more fun with division one!" though its a complete lie. |
19/03/98 |
tree Why can we still not beat the likes of Swindon, and yet we're going to win the F.A. CUP? Wolves really piss me off! |

The future's bright.... |

Goodman: Crap Richards: over rated Curle: Class but old Freedman: Premiership quality Bull: Premiership quality, nearly too old One day we'll go up, and we're just above average. So I've risen to your eloquently put baitings and pretty much agreed with you! But, you'll always be a twat, whilst we have room to improve? |
18/03/98 |
Alf Wolverhamton W: set for at least 5 years of abject obscurity. You will not go up,yet never go down. You are neither good nor bad yet painfully average.freedamn is good but not Premiership quality.Goodman & Curle too old.Richards very over-rated.I could go on and on. |

17/03/98 |
tree You know? I can use this site without any problems in this Library computer floor thing place, but not elsewhere. In case you were wondering? |
17/03/98 |
SeanP idle paper talk perhaps. No doubt he's a top prospect, but they'll never get him. |
17/03/98 |
tree I'm back...have you missed me? Are West Ham and Arsenal really interested in Naylor? |
16/03/98 |
SeanP fair point, JT, but the youth policy was non-existant until Taylor, so the change in four years has been considerable. United, of course, have a history of recruiting in the Black Country...Duncan Edwards being a prime example. |
16/03/98 |
JonT n, Man U winning the Champions League won't make any difference to the European places unless they finish outside the top 2, which I don't think is very likely. Sean, did you notice that 3 of the Man U youth players in the under 15 team that played Brasil were from the midlands. Your youth policy might be improving but it's obviously not as good as it could be. |
16/03/98 |
SeanP "You're wasting your time" Dear Premier League People (and the Beloved National Press), Don't waste valuable time speculating over which of the exciting crop of young talent currently being nurtured at Wolverhampton Wanderers could be added to your squad of mercenaries. They are staying put... Bother another club with good young players like Ipswich and Charlton, or go to Scandinavia like you normally do. |

n7135000 we have the beat home record in the country! |
16/03/98 |
Inoffthepost And we will take 3 points. We have the 2nd best away record in the Premiership. |
16/03/98 |
n7135000 well apart from leeds none. I can see west ham jumping over both derby and blackburn, who are slipping. Probably even chelsea. Leeds still have to come to Upton Park |
16/03/98 |
cronb True. But tell meany of the top 6 who are playing well right now???? Arse may have beaten Moan U, but so did Barnsley. |
16/03/98 |
n7135000 anybody would sign for west ham now. If we win our game in hand we are only about 4 points from a champions league place(if Man utd win Euro cup). Who wouldn't want that? Weare also short of left sided players so naylor could be guaranteed a lot of 1st team football |
16/03/98 |
SeanP just checked the calender...not April 1st yet. Lee is a mature, composed left back. Excellent defensive awareness, good going forward. Only 17. Unfortunately all you Premiership poachers out there, a local lad, who isn't going to leave for nothing short of a hefty sum. Like Keano and Carl, the building blocks of a top side. As for the semis, you have to beat the Arse first... |
16/03/98 |
n7135000 sorry naylor - is he the left back? Well I think he wants to taste european success, we might even buy him before we play you in the semi. |
16/03/98 |
SeanP Nolan?????? I presume you mean Naylor. He's class and staying put. Besides why would he want to go to Hammers?? A move to a bigger club maybe. |
16/03/98 |
n7135000 Lee Nolan, is he good? west ham are interested in buying him. |
16/03/98 |
cronb Greg. What comes around goes around. Do you feel that because you learned your (undoubted) skill from 1 company, that u should be tied 2 that company 4 the rest of your life???? |
16/03/98 |
greg I thought it was 1-0? By the way, it's nice your youth policy should be benifiting Arsenal, if Lee Naylor becomes more than just promising. |
16/03/98 |
cronb Tree. Trivia question. Who is the only non-premiership team to knock out a premiership team in the current FA cup championship????? |

06/03/98 |
_ 'a lunatic - every team should have one'. thats the advertising slogan by the way. i'm thinking of placing it in the sunday papers. |
06/03/98 |
SeanP couldn't agree more, blank, a lunatic is precisely what we need in our midfield at the moment. Haven't had one since Keith "Psycho" Downing departed in 1993. |
06/03/98 |
_ cool! football needs more lunatics and mad men. |
06/03/98 |
SeanP All the time. Highest ratio of penalties conceded per games played I think. Signed on the strength of two decent performances against Wolves, largely a result of kicking Lord Steve of Tipton out of the game. |
06/03/98 |
_ did shane kick people much? |
06/03/98 |
SeanP Shane's ok. Never had a problem with him, especially with his marvellous partnership with Rob Hindmarch. Halcyon days for the Wolves back four. |
06/03/98 |
_ ah, lincoln. i have a picture of him in a cambridge united programme. i do believe that he is the spawn of satan. |
06/03/98 |
SeanP pig: saw the Westley afro! Superb! And yes, "blank" he is a psychopath, and now coach at Lincoln I believe. McGhoo told the family section of the Billy Wright to f**k off after the crowd booed his decision to substitute Bully in the match against Huddersfield earlier in the season. He's so tactful, that bloke. I was one of McGhoo's fans, but tactical ineptitiude at times (5 at the back against Stoke!), his excellent PR skills, 75% of his signings, etc, etc, has forced me to change my mind about him. No money left, mind. |
06/03/98 |
_ shane westley looks like a psychopath! |
06/03/98 |
pig SeanP> Saw yet another majestic afro on the Wolves teamtalk page(just checkin in Mcghee had deserted you yet- but you should be so lucky) described as an old clogger, Shane Westley (thought he was white?) -where did you get 'em all from. p.s Also said last time you got boo-ed of the pitch Mghhee had a go at the fans in the Billy Wright, whats that all about? p.p.s David Barnes had a decent Soul Glow back in Div 4 defeats by Aldershot days. |
06/03/98 |
SeanP Easy, Bassett, we don't want to get bogged down in the whole nest of Wolves/Leicester vipers on yet another site. |

06/03/98 |

06/03/98 |
SeanP 200! 100 less than Bully's goal record. |
06/03/98 |
Woodsy Sure you are. Welcome. |
06/03/98 |
SeanP Even the e-mail address gives no clues. Anyway, back to Wolves. We were booed off after a woeful performance on Wednesday. Basically there are only two play off spots up for grabs now (to quote Mooro). Blues and, especially, Ipswich are in good form. Blown it again? Maybe. |
06/03/98 |
_ i'm an irregular in disguise if you really are that interested, woodsy. |

Woodsy He keeps breaking people's bones. He's a dirty bastard, young Muskrat. |
06/03/98 |
SeanP Tarby goes geographical!! As a geographer myself, I'm well impressed, Zorba. As for Muskrat, must be out of sorts if: a. Cannot get into current starting line-up b. McGhoo prefers Sharon Atkins |

03/03/98 |

03/03/98 |
basset Errr, can you precis that for me, I have a very short attention span. |

03/03/98 |

03/03/98 |
tree Quick idiots guide to McGhees career as manager.... Takes over the helm at Reading (smallish, decent club, realistically - not much prospects) in Division 2 and immediately improves them 100%. Wins the 2nd Division by a stretch in his first season and builds a good footballing side on a low budget. In their first season in the 1st Division, Reading F.C. surprise everybody and outplay most teams they meet. They finish second in the league and are completely robbed in the playoff final against Bolton 'evil' Wanderers. All in all, McGhee does wonders for Reading and he loves the club.... Midway through the next season Leicester come in for Mcghee, they have just been promoted to the Premiership and Brian Little has walked out on them. McGhee thinks long and hard about the offer and eventually decides he'd love a crack at the Premiership (fair enough eh?) It is not a decision that he made easily and he felt genuine sadness at leaving. Reading treated him like shit for it and it upset him deeply. Ungrateful wankers I say! (getting bored now...gonna hurry up) Taylor leaves Wolves and Wolves desperately need a young manager who can make his teams play (the opposite of Taylor if you like?) After much fannying around, slightly naughty signals are sent out towards McGhee, "the jobs yours if you want it?" Another difficult decision....should he stick with Leicester or come to manage one of the great old teams of British football. What would you do? (be honest?) Haven spoken to him about it, it was not a decision he took lightly, but one that he knew he had to make. He's ambitious and Wolves are more likely to fulfil his ambitions in the long run (no sniggering at the back please!) And also, we're just such a beautiful club! Simple as that! People piss me off when they get self-righteous about McGhee....other managers have done much worse. Fate dealt him 2 very awkward decisions to make within a relatively short space of time. Would anyone have chosen differently? ...No, I think is the answer. The treatment he (and our players) have received since then whenever playing these two clubs has been despicable and unwarranted. He is truly a good bloke, and everyone who's come into personal contact with him will tell you the same. So,...bollocks! |
03/03/98 |
SeanP tree...see comments on "soundbite" page. We will beat Stoke and lose 1-0 to a Hopkin goal on Saturday as he comes back to haunt us. |

tree Bassett: Shut your face you twat! Everyone else....hello my lovely mates! We've got Stoke tomorrow night...let's see if we can make it a hat-trick of lost derby doubles! |
02/03/98 |
greg Let's hope it's the F.A Cup final of the dumped FG chat-site contributors, so Wolves to meet Arsenal in the final. It will never happen tree, surely. |
02/03/98 |
tree I'm still not seeing recent messages, can you all e-mail me instead and tell me you still love me? Just like the old days? |
02/03/98 |
Janne I´d take the cup everyday... |
02/03/98 |
Donna tree, I've been avoiding this posting, as it takes sooo long to load, but I decided 'that's not going to get any better, is it Donna?' Well done on the Dons victory, pity about Brum. I'm sure your love life has no correlation to Wolves recent results. Would you rather have a relationship, or a Cup? I know which way I'd go. |
02/03/98 |
greg tree, you really must raise your game. You are disturbing me. I assure you Wolves didn't lose to Birmingham because you split up with your bird. They just aren't particularly good. |
02/03/98 |
basset The trouble with Wolves is fat-boy McGhee. How can his players feel any loyalty or respect for him after the way he walked out on Reading and Leicester? If you sack him now I think Wolves would easily make the play-offs. |
02/03/98 |
tree Why do I still love them? |
01/03/98 |
Snakepitter Wolves. he he he he he he he . Let me tell you what I believe - you have peaked , top 10 div 1 is as far as you can go. Get used to it. |

EddieHitler Tree, I'm so happy for you. Are you sure these server problems you're having can't become a little more long-term? |

SeanP tree: Just back from two days in the 'Pool so missed out on the latest as well. We've blown it. Blues and Ipswich will claim the play off spots with Sheff U and Sunderland, and we will sink to tenth. Bring back Brian Little now he's available!! |
24/02/98 |
tree Erm.....We seem to have blown it again haven't we Sean? |
24/02/98 |

20/02/98 |
tree I support the Wolves. And this is my page. |
20/02/98 |

Donna Saw Bull's 33th on Sky when I was at the gym this afternoon. He doesn't need it, but he has my respect. Right off home. |
20/02/98 |
tree Was I missed? |
20/02/98 |
SeanP That was my point about the play-offs, though. We could go up playing well below par in that system, when, in previous years we've been close to automatic promotion and missed out. Just shows what a lottery it is. I don't like it, but if it's there, exploit it and hopefully we'll do Sandwell Town in the process. Tell your A****n supporting mate that their lot have had their glory for this season. Freefall awaits Sandwell Town as the Bull is resurgent in March (according to my stars) |
20/02/98 |
Judy Touche awaaayyyyy! One of my fav programs when I was little. I think you are right about us coming down but there ain't no way you are going up. You just aren't good enough. You can tell this by the way you rave about mediocre players. You just aren't in the same class. I did like your analogy though. Oh and the Baggies fan here says there's no way you'll finish higher up the table than them. |
20/02/98 |
SeanP was he with morocco mole? No that was Secret Squirrel. WHo was Touche's sidekick? Answers on a postcard please... can you elaborate a bit more, Jude. This isn't like you. You usually have plenty to say. No merry retort? No attempted wind-up antics? You disappoint me. Have a nice weekend, anyway. |
20/02/98 |
Underhill touche turtle. |
20/02/98 |
Judy touche |
20/02/98 |
SeanP Jude...did I mention last season re: Bolton? I think not. Fair play, you won the division fair and square then, but ooohhh 1995...unforgiveable. Anyway, this is all irrelevant, as you're doing shite now and we're rising above the mediocre (just) to probably scrape into the last play-off berth and beat the Baggies at Wembley. Then we'll be like two passing ships in the night won't we?? Only one will be the Reebok Titanic, sailing towards a big iceberg with "Nationwide" written all over it. Shame, really. |
20/02/98 |
Judy Yup we will get relegated but at least we have been there recently. When was the last time Wolves won the first division championship by EIGHTEEN!!! clear points. But I suppose we cheated then and Wolves were definately better even though we beat you both at home and away. The playoff is a bit mean on the team finishing third. However the football teams do get a say in the system and this is what they wanted. They wanted the opportunity to generate the extra income from the playoff games. |
20/02/98 |
SeanP Just pointing out the injustice of the play-off system, Jude. Why play 46 league games when all it comes down to is three cup ties and maybe a penalty shoot out?? However, you'll be relegated in the totally fair "lets see who the worst three teams in the Premiership are after 38 games" system. Bye Bye Bolton!!! |
20/02/98 |
Judy You are just reinforcing your nickname Wingeing Wolves |
20/02/98 |
SeanP Tell me about it, Shan...in the year the play-offs were introduced we finished in a previously automatic position in the 4th division, only to be cheated by Aldershit, many points adrift. Then the Burnden episode when the thug McG****y put us out, and last year, finishing third, to be beaten by Palace who finished in sixth!! Can you tell I'm not a fan.... |
20/02/98 |
Shannahan Play-offs are a crap way to decide promotion - negating the point of a league. Too bloody American. There, I've got it off my chest! |
20/02/98 |
christopher well said Sean. |
20/02/98 |
SeanP No! Face the facts! Bolton are going down, never to return. Your time is over. A new golden dawn beckons. Lord Stephen George Bull of Tipton is back. What was hilarious about Wednesday was that the goal stemmed from a McG****y error! We are Wolves. |
20/02/98 |
Judy It's nice of you to admit that you have run out og arguments. Does that mean I won? I think so. BOLTON!!!!!!!!! |
19/02/98 |
tree I can't be arsed to answer any of that...it's all wank really isn't it? I will say however that over the 2 legs you were definitley not better than us, and Reading were robbed. Sorry if this isn't that good, but I don't care anymore. I despise Bolton still though...doesn't everyone? |
19/02/98 |
Judy Super John is exactly the same as other footballers. Every so often they boil over and have a bit of a scrap. We have had players have their legs broken by opposition players but you don't hear us wingeing year after year after year. As for taking your place in the premiership.... We were a better team than you and would have beaten you with or without McGinlay. We proved at Wembley that we deserved it. I can't see Wolves coming back from a 2-0 deficit with a penalty awarded against them. His comments in the press are no worse than anyone else's, you are obviously paranoid. Super IS a lovely man. At Bolton he was always the first to give up his time when asked to do things for kids. He visited all the local schools/hospitals and spent numerous evenings coaching the Junior Whites. I would hope that when he does eventually give up playing he will come back to Bolton to coach our youth team. |
19/02/98 |
tree Judy: I'm waiting... |
19/02/98 |
christopher TO ALL WOLVES FANS ON THIS SITEY, WHOM VISIT-ART MOLINEUX - MAKE SOME BLOODY NOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. |
19/02/98 |
tree During the second leg of the play-off semis (Wolves v Bolton(first leg - Wolves 2 Bolton 1)) 3 years back, John McGinlay kicked Mike Stowell (keeper) when he was on the floor collected the ball. David Kelly stepped in to try and pull McGinlay away and McGinlay turned around a punched David Kelly in the jaw. Kelly went down and the referee (intimidated that night by Boltons brutal 'style') did nothing about it. Unbelievable! McGinlay (it kills me to keep typing that ****ing name!) stayed on the pitch and scored the winning goal. And laughed about the incident to the cameras after the match. |
19/02/98 |
SimonT What's this about assaulting an opposition player? Fill me/us in on this... |
19/02/98 |
tree Judy: Whether you like Wolves or not, John McEvil's attitude and comments towards our club and its many supporters (during a miserable and distressing time) were despicable. I would be disgusted if one of our players laughed about assaulting an opposition player and cheating them out of a place in the Premiership. Breaking our hearts on the pitch is one thing...gloating and rubbing it in is another. For this alone how can he be a lovely man? And to come back to Molineux a year later, score an offside goal and then run towards the Wolves fans (already obviously quite rightfully angry with him) and grin, wave and generally take the piss, well...that makes him vile in my books, and I'm pretty sure I'd feel this way if it wasn't my club involved. He also made more inflammatory and antagonistic comments to the Bolton press last year when we were about to lose in the play-offs again. His behaviour towards us has been astounding, and although I'm quite passive...in this case I'd like to see him thrown to our fans. I know that you'll probably be smug and indifferent to my points (like most loveable Bolton fans tend to be)...but think about the pain that man has caused our club...then consider that he seems to have enjoyed it. And then tell me again what you think? |
19/02/98 |
tree Simon: He scored his hundredth goal in all competitions for all clubs (2 for the 'shit', and 4 for England) and then 300 for Wolves. Praise be! |
19/02/98 |
tree However I was pleased at the sheer volume of hate directed at him throughout the night...when he came on as blubstitue it was as if Lucifer himself had entered heaven. And Bully (Jesus) did the business again for us....GOOD 2 - EVIL 1 |
19/02/98 |
SimonT Going back to bassett's point, the Tigers still have a big following even though the team aren't on the pace this season (although Dwyer should never have been sacked) and the Riders are doing well - they reached the National Cup final - but Leicester are still picking up 21,000+ every week. Wolves fans : how come Bull has scored his 300th Wolves goal about three times this season? |
19/02/98 |
Judy I maintain that Super John is a sweet and lovely man who would never harm a fly. |
19/02/98 |
tree Yes, I failed to end the obese ones life...but it wasn't through lack of trying. Last night the stewards at Molineux encouraged the carrying of rifles and handguns and there was a shooting enclosure where we were giving all that we needed. Throughout the game (he spent 85 minutes on the bench) us WOlves fans shot repeatedly at him but to no avail. Bullets just peppered his fat bulk with no effect! By all means he should be dead now, he is 98% bullets, which is even more proof (as if it were needed) than John McGinlay is indeed evil incarnate. No man could have survived. |
19/02/98 |
christopher He lives, but some parts of his body do not. His head is stuck on a pole atop Molineux, but then, he never needed his head anyway... |
19/02/98 |
Shannahan But tree, John McGinlay, he lives? |
19/02/98 |
tree YESSSSS!!!!! BULLY IS BACK!!!! lAST NIGHT HE CAME ON FOR TEN MINUTES AND WON THE MATCH. SORRY I'M TOO EMOTIONAL TO ARTICULATE ANY FURTHER!!! He is truly the king! |
18/02/98 |
Shannahan While we're on the subject of ex-Wolves types, I was at Uni with a couple of Woverhampton girls called Deb and Clare - any news of them? |
18/02/98 |
Browny Who punched Kelly in the mouth? Who Punched Kelly in the mouth? Who Punched Kelly in the mouth? Who Punched Kelly in the mouth? Super John McGinlay |

18/02/98 |
tree I remember the Sawyers lad...don't know what happened next though. Does anyone know how Jason Roberts is doing? |
18/02/98 |
HillBillyBoy Do any of you Wolves know anything about a 18 year old YTS lad called Rob Sawyers who left 6 months ago to further his career at Barnet? |
18/02/98 |
tree No, that can't be him. |
18/02/98 |
Philb Who is this John Mcginlay?. You're not going on about that Scottish Bloke who scored all those fantastic goals against that fantastically shite lower division team are you? |
18/02/98 |
tree My god, I've just thought...If I fail to kill John McGinlay...and then he scores against us...and we lose!!!!????????? My GOD!!!! |
18/02/98 |
tree I'm off now to begin preparations on my first ever assasination. Wish me luck? |
18/02/98 |
tree Judy...you are a stupid one aren't you? He will be dead from tonight onwards, that includes tomorrow, next week, next year etc. |
18/02/98 |
SeanP Keith Curle will have a poison tipped boot a la Rosa Crebb in From Russia With Love. Watch Fat John go down faster than Bolton. |
18/02/98 |
Judy You mean he won't be dead tonight? What will you use slow working poison? |
18/02/98 |
greg That's clever - Judy talking about (a) Punch. That's the way to do it! |
18/02/98 |
tree Judy: You stupid stupid type. He will be dead tomorrow!!! hahahahaha |
18/02/98 |
tree Donna, tree house, and ta very much! |
18/02/98 |
Judy Super John McGinlay is one of the greatest players EVER to walk this planet. What he did to Kelly at Burnden in the playoff semi was perfectly justified because Kelly plays for Wolves and is therefor a complete wanker. |
18/02/98 |
basset I think it works the other way round, in that rugby has prospered in big population centres with poor/unambitious footy teams: Leicester, Bristol, Hull, Bradford. Leeds Rugby League team picked up a decent following whilst the footy team languished in the old Second Division. In the early 1980s, Leicester had the best supported basketball team in the country. I think fans turn to other sports when their footy teams continually fail them. |
18/02/98 |
Donna What kind of a tree are you friend. Tree house? Sturdy oak? Dutch elm? Have to go back to my traning session now, but I'll be back tomorrow. Well done at the Wimbledon game by the way. Wolves Barnsley for the Final? |

tree Hello Donna! |
18/02/98 |
Donna Don't argue with Sean 'Mr. Geography' P. |
18/02/98 |
SeanP Shan...Leicester is by no means the sixth biggest city in England. |
18/02/98 |
SeanP In terms of their off-field set up and overall financial management, LCFC are streets ahead of Wolves at the moment. All credit to them with Fox Leisure, FNF etc...really turned the club around, and I admire that. BUT have they reached their level, and is it only downhill from here in terms of playing achievement? |
18/02/98 |
Shannahan basset, how big a part does the success of Leicester's rugby union contribute to the relatively low support at football? Is Leicester the sixth biggest city in England? That should really make it a footballing leviathon. |
18/02/98 |
basset Filbert Street's capacity that season was a measley 21,500 (as it still is). I'm not saying Wolves aren't a big club and since Leicester have always been so unambitious and self-effacing, I will have to concede the point. But since Leicester is a lot bigger than Wolverhampton it would be interesting to see how big our gates would be were we to have the financial backing and stadium that Wolves have. |
18/02/98 |
SeanP basset: the season in question is a bad one to pick, as the ground redevlopment had just started and we were challenging for mid-table obsurity after a very poor season start. Plus Filbert Street had a bigger capacity anyway abck then. BEFORE the financial assistance of the Hayward family, Wolves took 45,000 to the Sherpa Van Trophy Final against Burnley. |
18/02/98 |
basset I know it's difficult to argue that Leicester are bigger than Wolves NOW. But before Wolves (and Middlesbrough for that matter) became super-rich, the three clubs were all challenging for promotion to the Premiership, (1991-92 I think) and Leicester's average attendance for the season was slightly bigger than Wolves' or Boro's. I know this doesn't prove anything in itself since it's only one season, but I think it proves that if any of that range of "middle-clubs" (ie Leicester, Stoke, Portsmouth, WBA etc) gained the financial backing and stadium that Wolves have, they would ALL get 25,000 average gates in the first division. |
18/02/98 |
tree Please keep this yourselves...but I intend to kill John McGinlay tonight. |
17/02/98 |
tree TOO STUNNED TO SPEAK!!! |
17/02/98 |
SeanP I can't believe it!! A rational, objective comment from Armpitter! |
17/02/98 |
Snakepitter Fair enough call - these northern clubs only seem to bring 1 man and a whippet - must admit your support on first day of season was superb. |
17/02/98 |
tree NO team would go through the disappointments or our last 15 years and still maintain an average of approx. 25,000 in the first division! Whilst having to play the likes of Bury, Hudd's et al. (Not knocking small clubs but hardly crowd pullers are they?) |
17/02/98 |
Snakepitter Its almost convincing. |
17/02/98 |
tree Sean P: Eloquently put! (is that chicken of me?) hehe |
17/02/98 |
SeanP Armpitter: Hayward has said that Molineux is too small, and plans are in place to fill in two of the corners and add an extra tier to one of the stands should Premiership football be attained. When you build from scratch, as in Leicester's case, it is better to over-estimate. Stopwatch: our manager may not be a PR expert, but I very much doubt we will be taken apart. As for your last comment, it's kind of difficult to bear when a team that dominated football for so long can't even afford to pay the milkman and sends teams of YTS players out to the slaughter. Many of us stayed away in the Bhatti years because it was like watching a strong, proud, healthy person wither away before our eyes. However, 10,000 plus gates in the fourth division aren't bad, are they? |
17/02/98 |
Snakepitter Alright anorak, Any normal bloke would go down the pub to talk football - this site should be for abuse and nothing more. |
17/02/98 |
tree Don't want to sound aloof or anything...but you can't really argue with such empty silly insults as these can you? |
17/02/98 |
Stopwatch To anyone who associates themselves with Wolves - Your manager is a prick, We (Huddersfield) will take you apart on saturday and finally, Where were you when you were shit ? |
17/02/98 |
Snakepitter Answer my question. |
17/02/98 |
SeanP Undeniably, Wolves are bigger than Leicester. In terms of gates, nationwide support and history there is no contest. Just got to change current playing fortunes.... |
17/02/98 |
Snakepitter Why are they going to build a ground that will dwarf yours then? (40 000). |
17/02/98 |
tree Sean: Actually, I'm taking my nephew to the game, so I'd better send him to the toilet or something when it's killing time! |
17/02/98 |
tree Leicester are bigger than us? hmmmmm, after thinking about it, they aren't are they in any way, shape or form. Apart from their current ephemeral league position |
17/02/98 |
SeanP Tree...I will look out for you tomorrow night with the snipers rifle at the ready...happy hunting. The evil must be stopped. But would you need special knives to kill the Anti-christ?? |
17/02/98 |
Snakepitter Lester are bigger than you. |
17/02/98 |
tree Sean: A Bolton fan told me recently on Soccerchat, that last year when we were about to fail in the playoffs again, John 'EVIL' McGinlay told the local press in Bolton that if Wolves lost he would drop his trousers in Wolverhamptn Town Centre! Can you believe that? After all he's done he says that!!!! HE MUST BE MURDERED BRUTALLY! |
17/02/98 |
SeanP "The Boxer" may not start tomorrow. Was there ever a more hateful player? He definitely goes alongside that Austrian Hunt in my all-time most hated players 11. |
17/02/98 |
tree Should true Wolves fans be prepared to go to prison for life for the murder of John McGinlay, if he should play for Bradford in tomorrow nights game? |

16/02/98 |
tree WOW!!!! There are 3 people on the whole of this site right now...and we are all Wolves fans! Come on lads ....CHARRGGEEEE!!!!!! |
16/02/98 |
SeanP As he was, more or less, a direct replacement for Kelly, I expect you will say that we should have kept Dave. Great goal against Leicester when the two of them linked up to perfection. I do hate Don's "Chicken Tonight" goal celebration, though. |
16/02/98 |
tree Whenever Goodman is out of the team and gets a crack back at it he always shows a little more effort. He also has the annoying habit of fluking a couple of goals in consecutive matches prompting "Goodman must play" type calls. When he wins a regular place back in the side he immediately reverts to his old tricks. A most infuriating man! 2 out of 10! |
16/02/98 |
SeanP Over the last few games he has put in more effort when some of his colleagues have faded without a trace. Against Charlton, Sunderland and Wimbledon he has been tracking back, winning balls in the air, getting tackles in. The cynic in me will say: playing for a new deal or does he realise he's in the shop window now?? |
16/02/98 |
tree But I will say this...has anyone noticed how much Don Goodman looks like the Chewitt Monster? (from the old t.v. commercials) |
16/02/98 |
tree Sean: Not harsh enough on Don!!!!! He is very manipulative in interviews and in his behaviour towards fans...but I genuinely believe that he has very little true feeling for the club. See his comments about Sunderland and Albion after leaving, he's got it cushy at Molineux and he knows it. I never slag any of our players, but I believe the the biggest crime in football is lazyness (esp. in our predicament) and he's got it in abundance...No? |
16/02/98 |
SeanP Sorry, saw it in another section. For a moment I thought someone else had written it and addressed it to you. Still harsh on Don... |
16/02/98 |
tree Where from what? |
16/02/98 |
SeanP Where from, tree? |
16/02/98 |
tree Maybe this should go on here! tree I feel that I can't be harsh enough against Don Goodman. During our depressing miserable season 2 years ago when we flirted with relegation (incidently the first year I save up enough money for a season ticket!) he barely moved for whole games! His laziness was monumental and his moodiness and ego bordered on the offensive. I sat in the stands, desperate for quality, but ready to settle for effort and Don Goodman insulted me and the club week after week after week. I would not pick him for park football! He has no football ability at all, can't get his shots on target and fails to utilise his only redeeming skills (strength and ability in the air). Also...have you seen how badly he plays in crunch promotion matches? I think there is a definite connection to the fact that he would be out on his ear if we were to reach the Premiership. |

13/02/98 |
tree We're a bit depleted for tomorrows game (No Bull, Keane or Osbourne, 3 of our 5 best!) so I think we'll just snatch a draw. I reckon we could beat them at Molineux will a fuller team in a week or so! |

n7135000 what score do you predict for the wolves game tommorow? what about west ham - blackburn (we do have the best home record in the league)? |
13/02/98 |
tree I don't know |
13/02/98 |
n7135000 My message tree, who does shannahan support? |
13/02/98 |
tree Right...who wants me? |
13/02/98 |
tree I am back!!!! This is MY board! |
13/02/98 |
Shannahan I love the meandering style of this board. And with no further ado, I now declare...well, goodonyer Bolton. But just imagine if they had a pack of cuddly Wolves? How would you like that then? |
13/02/98 |
Judy Wolves- Pah! Woosies more like. The only set of supporters who clamed to be intimidated by Lofty the Lion doing his act at half time. Every other team who visits has laughed and clapped but oh no not Wolves. They had to write a letter to the FA claiming intimidation and incitement by the Bolton mascot. Inevitably the FA dismissed it immediately. |

basset I once saw Muzzy Izzet walking through, of allplaces, Leicester City Centre. He was with Ian Marshall and jamie Lawrence. Anyway, all of a sudden, the fleet-footed City starlet thrusts out his arms at his sides and proclaimed to nobody in particular "I'm a firestarter". I laughed all the way through the Shires Shopping Centre. |
13/02/98 |
Ozzie The only reason he would go to Wales is to buy sheep for his dads Kebab shop. |
13/02/98 |
n7135000 Are you still there Tree? |
13/02/98 |
SeanP I reckon it would have been Big Fat Ron as opposed to Mart O'Neill. Talking of Izzet, I think it would be great for him to play for a Welsh club. |
13/02/98 |
Ozzie Er,My brain hurts |
13/02/98 |
Shannahan Er, whatever you say Mr Ozzie, sir. |
13/02/98 |
Ozzie I've heard of talking to the trees, but not the trees talking to themselves. Is this a form of subliminal existentialism |
13/02/98 |
basset Where would Leicester be without Wolves? It's a sobering thought, but if McGhee had stayed at Leicester, O'Neill may well have gone to Wolves at some stage and signed Lennon, Elliot, Keller, Izzet and Savage for them! As ye sew so may ye reap. Wolves aren't unlucky, they have just been smote/smited by God. |
13/02/98 |
Shannahan Stop! You all seem to have mis-read the topic heading - this is tree's own topic, so heshould be talking to himself, surely? After all, his mom and dad can do it. |
13/02/98 |
SimonT Well, the Leicester board couldn't have funded our success. |
13/02/98 |
SeanP No E&S: just Teamtalk. Pity about Bully then... Tony's hair is back to the "Family of Headstanding Tarantulas" look that was so successful for him in Euro 92. A great improvement on 95's "Errol Brown with pigtail" effort. |
13/02/98 |
pig What's Tony Daley's haircut like, his original 'Billy Whizz' at villa was literaly outstanding. Hope you find the ground ok (as generous as i get to mghhee). |
13/02/98 |
tree Sean: Bully is not ready for tomorrows game yet apparently. Can you get the Express & Star in Leicester? |
13/02/98 |
SeanP I don't know about "reverse midas touch" but certainly we've a record of signing players with dodgy knees. Anyway, don't Lestuh fans realise that we have funded your promotion and continued place in the Premiership? |
13/02/98 |
basset What has happened to Steve Corica. He was dynamite when he started playing for Leicester. Wolves seem to have a "reverse midas touch" on most players, in that they all turn to shit as soon as they touch the Gold (tee hee). |
13/02/98 |
SeanP I'll be there in the old Arthur Wait Stand...hope the result is better than the last time we were there. As long as Dougie scores twice again. Bully to score 300th? |
13/02/98 |
tree Sean: I spent all of my football money last week on watching us get beat by Sunderland and...(I can't say it!). So, no...I will not be playing tomorrow. You? |
13/02/98 |
SeanP Bully for Keano? Ozzy for Fergie? Sharon for Kevin? (at right back) Answers to these questions in the Valentines Day Massacre tomorrow. tree- will you be at Selhurst? |
13/02/98 |
yiddo Yeah - stuff the Don's tree! |
13/02/98 |
Woodsy Is Corica still injured? Well, at least you have hardman Kev Muscat. |
13/02/98 |
n7135000 good luck against the dons on sat. |
13/02/98 |
yiddo The irrepressable tree strikes again - WTG tree |
13/02/98 |
tree Right, where was I.... Wolves = Greatest yet unluckiest club in the world...Discuss! |
13/02/98 |
tree GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UP THE WOLVES AND ALL THAT! |
