'98 Season Round-up

   The GVS season started off with a bang as they won their own invitational tournament beating C.M. Wright (3-1), Centennial (2-0) and perinnial national powerhouse Shenendahowa, NY (4-2) in the championship game.
As their season continued, the girls traveled to Nashville and New Jersey while still playing their Catholic League Schedule. At mid-season, the team found themself with a 10-5-1 record. After a defensive alignment change and a renewed confidence, the GVS team won their remaining twelve games to finish 22-5-1, #1 in Maryland, and #18 nationally.
    The Eagles continued their tradition of excellence by winning the Catholic League Tournament for the third time (5 trips to the finals in the '90s so far).
Coach Boylan attributed a committed driven attitude among all team members for their success.

*Local losses to #3 NDP (2-1) and #12 Westminster (3-2) in O.T. after outshooting both teams 41-5 and 31-5 respectively*

*Loss to top New Jersey team, Manalapen 1-0*
