Triton Cradle 3/16/76 Construction Notes
1. Design was taken from an existing Triton cradle and one was built from Triton #474 (Improvement, Ed Shiffer) it fits perfectly.
2. Notch Cross Members 1/2" to take corner posts. Notch skids 1/2" for cross members.
3. Do not forget 4x4 block which supports forward end of keel where lit curves upward. Fasten with 2-1/2 x 6" lag screws.
4. Set cradle level. Block firmly up under center of cross members as shown. Cross members must take all the weight through the keel. The corner posts are for stability only. Otherwise you distort the hull.
5. Cover 8x8 pads with carpet and keep them loose. When lowering hull onto cradle rest keel on cross members. Adjust front to back position so that there is an inch and one half or more space between the top of the corner posts and the hull. Wedge the 8x8 pads against the hull with shingles between the pads and the tops of the corner posts. Then release the slings.
6. You may remove the forward pads together for painting and then replace them and remove the aft pads. Do not remove forward and aft pad together. Disaster will follow.
7. Label all joints and parts so that cradle may be taken apart and moved.
8. It is trickly to make the angled cuts on the tops of the corner posts. The details show the dimensions of the angles from two sides. All four sides of the starboard bow post look as drawn. The others follow the same principle.
