The Offspring Timeline
1983: Dexter and Greg K started the band. They were still in high school at the time.
1985: Band started playing at Greg K's house where friends would stop by to watch.
1986: Noodles and Ron Welty joined the band.
1987: First single was released. I'll Be Waiting/Blackball was overpriced and of poor quality. It took two and a half years to sell the 1,000 copies made.
1989: The Offspring recorded their self-titled debut with Nemesis Records.
1991: The Offspring signed with Epitaph
1992: The Offspring released Ignition.
1994: The Offspring released their international "smash" hit, that sold over 9 million. Also released were the following singles from Smash: Come Out and Play, Self Esteem, and Gotta Get Away.
1995: The Offspring are on the Batman Forever soundtrack, with the song "Smash It Up". Also, the band re-released Ignition and redid their self-titled album with Nitro Records.
1996: "All I Want" single came out from Ixnay on the Hombre, which was released later.
1997: Ixnay on the Hombre was released. The other singles released were: Gone Away, I Choose, and The Meaning Of Life. -- The band was on the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" soundtrack with the song "DUI".
1998: "Pretty Fly" single released shortly before the Americana album. "The Kids Aren't Alright" from Americana was on "The Faculty" sountrack.
1999: "Why Don't You Get A Job?" single released. The Offspring re-recorded "Beheaded" (from self-titled album) for the Idle Hands soundtrack. The band also appeared in the movie. Also, "The Kids Aren't Alright" is released as a single.
