THIS SUMMER YUKO TO ATTEMPT
DOUBLE-CROSSING OF LAKE MEMPHREMAGOG
It's official, on Monday January 31st 2000, The Board of Directors of
Traversée Internationale accepted Yuko's new challenge to double-cross
Lake Memphremagog for a worthy children's charity. The plan is simple
in paper but the challenge is greater than word can ever describe. Yuko
will begin the race on Saturday, July 22nd around 12:00PM from Magog ,
Québec together with the swimmers from the normal yearly swimming
event. The difference will be that Yuko will continue up to Newport,
Vermont , USA where she will turn and head back to Magog finishing sometime
Sunday afternoon. Not only will this be a first ever in the history
of Lake Memphremagog but it will be a great way to launch marathon swimming
into the new millennium. Yuko is extremely excited about this opportunity
to keep bringing marathon swimming into the public eye and also to showcase
her neverending quest for the happiness of children. Stay tuned to
this website for more updates.
YUKO SUCESSFULLY COMPLETES 24 HOURS NON STOP SWIM

pool in the Aquatic Center. She completed 685 Laps which added to 68.5

Yuko would like to thank all her friends and new friends that came
to cheer and helped her on her challenge. Her coach, Omar Ruiz and
event coordinator, Izumi Sakurada get special thanks for their total support
during the swim.
"it was difficult staying awake for such a long period of time but it
was all worth it"
