Louisville Rugby Football Club

The Louisville Rugby Football Club has officially started training as of 03.August. We will face a fairly tough schedule this fall, starting off with Division I foe Indianapolis. It is a home match to be played at Cherokee Park's Rugby Field (nee frisbee field). The game will begin promptly at 1:00 PM. With the next weekend off for Labor Day, the Louisville XV will try to own the league that has Cincinnati Kelts, Queen City, Lexington and Dayton for opponents. With a solid core of veterans and some up and coming talent, along with a couple of foreign influences, Louisville is looking very solid and should begin its run for the Division II national championship in early September. The national championship drive will begin in the Spring. "I don't think we are going to be happy with just winning our division and getting to the playoffs", said coach and former Eagle Pat Johnson. "We have set some pretty lofty goals and realize that, with a lot of hard work, this particular group of players can put Louisville back on the map. With the attitude of 'you get what you settle for', we have made a commitment not to settle for anything but the top. And we are going to be out to prove it." If you are interested in playing rugby for the Louisville Rugby Football Club, you can join us each Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 PM in Cherokee Park at Hogan's fountain for our regular practice. If you cannot make practice, come and join us for our post-practice social each Thursday at The Brewery, located at 426 Baxter Avenue in the Highlands. You can also check our event hotline @ 502.58.RUGBY (587.8429). This is the first ever homepage for the Louisville Rugby Football Club.
