All Island Sports offers fifteen sports throughout the year, usually 2 per 2-month period. All sports are for an 8-week period, and run on either Friday's from 7-8 pm or Friday's 8-9 pm. The cost to register for each sport is only $20 (except for bowling, which is just $40), which includes a shirt, shorts, uniform, insurance, and a trophy. What a deal! Additionally, athletes are assigned a number that stays with them throughout their time with AIS. Sled hockey practices go 2-3 hours/week, all year round. AIS has four levels - Junior, Modified, Intermediate, and Senior/National. We compete versus local high schools and junior high schools such as St. Mary's, Kellenberg, Massapequa, and Valley Stream. All Island Sports is the proud recipient of the 1997 National Hockey League (NHL) A.S.S.I.S.T Program and was a Silver Medal Winner at the 1999 National Sled Hockey Tournament held in Toronto, Canada. AIS runs sled hockey all year round.

NEW YORK (March 22, 2000) -- The National Hockey League announces the availability of the 2000 NHL A.S.S.I.S.T.® grant applications. The NHL A.S.S.I.S.T.® (The NHL Assists Skaters and Shooters Intent on Succeeding Together) grant program is designed to help youth hockey organizations worldwide defray the costs of equipment, ice time and travel expenses. NHL A.S.S.I.S.T.® will award grants in amounts of up to $10,000 USD to qualifying hockey programs, totaling $100,000 USD each year.(more)
