Frequently I am asked, "Jumpmaster, where do you get your information?" Almost exclusively, I acquire recruiting information from sources on the World Wide Web. 95% of this information is from free sites. There are some excellent sites that do not require the surfer to pay for entry. On this page I'm going to share many of my favorite links for recruiting information.
Southeastern Conference Recruiting Links: This is a "link" to other "links," covering every SEC team. You can get here from the NRC page as well.
Tom Lemming: The Sporting News's recruiting expert. Click this link to see Lemming's Top 200 Prep Juniors, who will be seniors this fall.
Bobby Burton: ESPN Sportszone's recruiting analyst, the National Recruiting Alliance (NRA). This link will take you to Burton's NRA Top 100 for '98-'99.
Prepstar at CNN/SI: College football recruiting from the CNN/SI site. Watch for their "Dream Team," a nationally-recognized list of blue chippers.
Bill Buchalter: Southeastern recruiting guru from Orlando, Florida. Buchalter concentrates on the Florida/FSU/Miami recruiting wars, but covers all Div I schools.
Max Emfinger: Another southern recruiting expert, Emfinger, out of Hammond, Louisiana, covers the talent-rich states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas extremely well. Currently has a list of Top 200 Dixie Bluechips, and a National Top 300 list.
National Top 100: Elegantly simple site that is kept religiously up-to-date. Maintained by Texas A&M fan Johnathan Cornwell, but not regionally biased. Cornwell also ranks his classes after Signing Day.
Georgia Recruiting Site: Very thorough site maintained by a Dawg fan. Has the Grapevine, which he updates practically on a daily basis as recruiting heats up. With the Georgia-Tennessee recruiting battles that are sure to rage every year, watching this site for news is as essential as watching a Tennessee site.
Dot Com’s Florida State Recruiting: Nole recruiting site where the rumors fly. Because Tennessee and Florida State seem to battle more and more frequently for top national recruits, this site is a must.
Gator Country Recruiting: Of course we have to monitor Gator recruiting, not only because we battle for some of the same recruits, but also because they are a fellow SEC East power. Not much on here at the present but things will heat up in a few months.
Kentucky Recruiting: Another SEC East competitor, with whom the Vols always end up competing for a prospect or two. Good site done by an avid UK fan.
Tidal Wave: An excellent Bama site, recently updated. Due to the Tide's recent annoying habit of stealing Tennessee's top prospects, we definitely have to keep an eye on what these guys are doing.
Plano's
Page 3: South Carolina Gamecock site. With Tennessee
making a major effort in South Carolina this year, this one will be critical
to keep an eye on.
The
Tar Pit: Outstanding North Carolina Tarheel site.
Does an exceptional job covering the Heels' football recruiting efforts.
Hawg Squeals: Another SEC opponent and border state, Vol fans need to keep up with Arkansas football recruiting as well.
Gridscape Recruiting: Located within Gridscape, the best UT site on the 'net, this site tracks commitments and signees, plus you can enter Vol Recruiting Chat. You're almost sure to find the Jumpmaster there too!
VolInsider Tidbytes: Your source for Vol football insider information. Last season, this site tracked recruiting news better than any other. They do make predictions, and they aren't always right!
Alliance Sports Vol Net: Probably the best site on the Internet to find early, preseason information right now. They post news daily about highly regarded prospects all over the Southeast. They even have a searchable prospect database. Pay site.
govols.com Recruiting News: Good repository for '98 recruiting info, including an Adobe Acrobat-readable page with pictures and thumbnail bios of all the '98 Signees. Good site to monitor during recruiting season for rumor confirmation; when these guys post it, you know it's the truth.
KORRnet:
A discussion forum for Vol fans that is monitored by Vol sports personalities
from WNOX radio in Knoxville. Brent Hubbs will answer your questions
when posted here.
