BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Level 6 is the highest compulsory level in girl's gymnastics. All the gymnasts perform the same routines on each of four apparatus - bars, beam, vault, and floor. To view each Level 6 routine in computer animated form click on: Level 6 Beam Routine, Level 6 Bar Routine, Level 6 Floor Routine, and Level 6 Vault. Each state has sectional meets where the gymnast is required to obtain a minimum score on the all-around to advance to the State Championship Meet. The gymnast may also compete in optional meets that may be held out of state. All-around scores at these meets don't count toward qualifying for the State Meet, but do count toward advancing to the next level. After level 6 the gymnast advances to the optional levels where the gymnast begins making up their own routines.
