Juan Gonzalez to Miss 3-5 Games!!!
Reported By: Webmaster Sibs on 7/31/98
TORONTO -- Juan Gonzalez, chasing Hack Wilson's major-league record of 190 RBI's, will miss three to five games because of tightness in his right hamstring.

Gonzalez missed a second straight game Wednesday night as the Rangers played the Toronto Blue Jays.

"We don't think it's a (DL) situation," Oates said. "It's a little worse than we thought it was. Yesterday it was tight and today it's tender."

Gonzalez leads the majors with 116 RBI in only 105 games.

"It's a big disappointment to me because I wanted to play in 162 games this season because this team needs me," Gonzo said.

Gonzalez said he felt a twinge in his leg about 10 days ago. While stretching for Tuesday's game he said he felt a pop.

His absence Tuesday ended his streak of 138 consecutive games played.

Gonzalez has been plagued by injuries throughout his nine-year career. Prior to this year, he had missed 112 of a possible 469 games over the previous three seasons.
