We
are an Okinawan style of Karate based on the techniques of the Southern
Shaolin temple of China. Incorporated into our style are the aspects
of physical, mental, and spiritual arts, each of which are vital elements
in every part of our training.
Physically, we are not only
a style which incorporates striking and kicking, but also an art which
places a great deal of importance on the more traditional grappling, throwing,
Kata (forms), and pressure point (system based on 108 vital striking
points) attributes of Karate. We also train in Yamaneryu
Kobudo (traditional weaponry) and are versatile in various different
weapons.
Spiritually, our style follows
precepts of Zen Buddhism, and use Meditation and Koans to develop our students
mental awareness.
We also encourage our students
to research independently, and along side our instructors, into the
history, origins, and mythology of the martial arts.
As such, we are a very open-minded
style whose goal is the further learning and promotion of the traditional
arts.
