The major differences between the CFL and the NFL is that the Canadian field is longer and wider, end zones are longerextra player and only three downs to make ten yards . This along with a no fair catch rule make for some exciting high scoring football . The CFL quarterbacks must scamble and throw more passes then NFL ones. because of the three down rule.

The Grey Cup

This is what the CFL is all about. Canada has been playing football since 1861.However we didn't play for the Grey Cup until 1909 when it was donated by Canada's Governor-General at the time,Lord Earl Grey. In 1948,the Calgary Stampeder fans bought fun & parties with horses, chuckwagons and stampede breakfasts to to show the Eastern Canadians a little of Western Canada's hospitality. Even Today, Canadians' goes nuts every November to celebrate Grey Cup week. The week's climax is Grey Cup Sunday whem a team from the East and one from the West fight it out on the gridiron to see who will be the Grey Cup Champions and rule the Canadian Football World for the next year. The 1997 Grey Cup Game will be held in Edmonton, Alberta.

Doug Flutie

Doug
Doug joined the BC Lions in the 1990 and has become the CFL's Premier Quarterback ever since. He won the Heisman Trophy as the top player in U.S. college football. He will always be remembered for the last-second "Hail Mary" pass late in his senior college at Boston College that lifted them to an upset win over the Miami Hurricanes. He signed with the USFL New Jersey Generals in 1985. He also played with the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots in four NFL seasons before coming to Canada to play in ther CFL. Doug went from BC to the Calgary Stampeders before moving on to the Toronto Argonaughts. He led the Argo's to the coveted Grey Cup in 1996.
