The Port Noarlunga S.L.S.C. was established in 1933 as part of the Royal Lifesaving Society. In 1953 it become part of the Surf Life Saving Association of Australia. Port Noarlunga (pronounced nor-lung-a) is situated approx 40 km South of Adelaide on a very picturesque stretch of beach, with Sand Hills to the South of the Club Rooms and a rocky Bluff to the North. Approximately 400 metres from the shore is a reef that runs the length of the beach (about 1.2 km). This reef is seperated by The Gap, as it is known, which is about 100 metres wide. The Northern section of reef is reachable by a jetty, which until some years ago actually stopped on the reef, but a wild storm destroyed the end of the jetty and when it was rebuilt it was shortened by about 10 metres.
