Hi everyone!
This is the English section of Binu's Homepage. In fact it's not very easy for me to traslate the whole page into English - but I'll have a try.
If you find any mistakes -believe me there are a few mistakes - please report them to me by e-mail. I'll need your help to get a correct "English - Site" and I am very happy if you help me to correct any mistakes.

My name is Binu and I live in Paderborn. Paderborn is a small town in the western part of Germany with about 100.000 inhabitans. I was born in 1978 here in Paderborn. My parents originally came from India. That's why I am not a German citizen. My mum got an offer to work as a nurse in an great hospital in Duesseldorf, which is a big city in the so called "Ruhgebiet" a famous industrial area in Germany. That was in 1974. A few years later my dad became a student of the University of Paderborn and my mum got a new job at the "Landeshospital" a Paderborn hospital. They moved to Paderborn where they get a small flat in a suburb of Paderborn which is called "Elsen".
That's my little story how I got a German Indian. ;-) I grew up here in Germany and I visited the elementary school in Elsen. After 4 years in 1988 I left the grammar school and I got a student of the "Goerdeler - Gymnasium" in Paderborn. No, it's not a place where you can play hoops or something like that. "Gymnasium" is the German equivalent for "high school" or "grammar school" - however.
I stayed there for about 8 years when I finished with my "Abitur" in 1997. "Abitur" is the German school leaving examination which allows you to visit an university. It was a great time and I have some images on my page which shows a school work day, our school trip to London and our big school festa when we finished in the summer of 1997.
It's hard to get a job in Germany. We have about 5 Million people who are unemployed at the moment - and it is getting worse. Especially younger people can't find training courses (Ausbilungsplatz). I thought it would be better to have a good job for the first time. That's one reason why I started with a new job training in october 1997 instead of visit an university. It a job which is called "staatlich gepruefter Informatikassistent / Medizinoekonomie" . I visit the b.i.b which is a higher vocational school at Paderborn. This vocatinonal trainig will take 2 years and I hope to get a good job. I' am sure that I' ll have enough time to study after this time. But theoretical knowledge isn't enough nowadays....
Even my English teacher don't know a proper translation of my job term. She said that she would think about it so maybe I'll give you an explaination any other time. (That is what she has said: "Say that you study computer science in the field of medcine at a private college which is called b.i.b.!")

-This is me!-
I love to play basketball. That's not very usual for someone who grew up in Germany. Soccer is the No.1 sport. But Paderborn is a "sports city". You won't believe it but we have got an american football team which plays in the first division of Germany (Paderborn 'Miller' Dolphins), a baseball team which is also member of the first German division (Paderborn Untouchables) and two basketball teams which are members of the second division of basketball in Germany.
In 1992 I saw the basketball game between Germany and the USA at the Olympic Summer Games (Barcelona). It was a great game and I wanted to get as good as Jordan, Barkley, Johnson and Bird. - All right, no chance but there was a another one - getting as good as Harnisch, Welp, Blab, Nuernberger and Schrempf ;-))) (our German stars)!!!
In 1993 our local "Forbo Paderborn" team won their championship and they went up to the first division. This was a great event and a great season. In this time I started to play basketball. I've started to play with friends later on I' ve began to play at "TuRa Elsen" a team of my little home suburb.
In 1997 we had our first season with a membership of an official league. It's the eastern conference of the 2nd district league of Paderborn. Hey, that sounds good in English!!! - Ok, frankly speaking it's the lowest division in Germany. There's nothing under us. That's an advantage. We can't get relegated from our conference. ;-)))
I'm just joking. We are doing well at the moment. Maybe we can make it to go up to a higher division this year (by the way - WE'VE MADE IT!!!!!!)
This must be enough about me. Now here's something about my homepage.

Vorwort means foreword or preface. It's still in German. You'll find some words why I made this site and so on.
Autor means author. Here are some information 'bout me. It's nearly the same like on this page.
You can choose between three teams. TuRa Elsen, my own team. Forbo Paderborn our local ( my favourite ) professional basketall team. What about TV Salzkotten? Another professional team in our city district. Some information which was made by me.
...means miscellaneous. You'll find a page about the class of 1997. There are a lot of pix in it. There's also a page about two cool bands. WIZO (German punk) and Gigantor (German melody core - but they are singing English) - sorry pages are in German language.
... my private gallery. I hope that there's enough space to place some images.
My link page. -German-
...my private guestbook. I would be pleased about your entry. Come on...! ;-)
