1997 Stanley Cup Finals

The Red Wings Sweep the Flyers 4 Games to None

The Detroit Red Wings, (my favorite hockey team of course) defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 on Saturday June 6, 1997 to sweep the series four games to none and to capture their first Stanley Cup Championship since 1955. The Conn Smythe winner was Red Wings' goalie Mike Vernon. No player deserved the cup more than Red Wings' Captain Steve Yzerman. The goals for the Wings came from Niklas Lidstrom and Darren McCarty.
