Pensacola Ice Pilots announced that goalie Maxime Gingras (pronounced jin-grah) has agreed to terms with the Ice Pilots and is expected to be in the line-up tomorrow night when the Ice Pilots play home to Mobile at 7:05 p.m. in the Cellular South Battle of the Bay Cup Series.

Gingras, who stands 5'6" and weighs 160 pounds, was 12-4-1 with a 2.32 goals against average and .921 save percentage last season playing for Mobile and posted a record of 11-5-3 with a with a 3.24 goals against average for the Richmond Renegades. Gingras also played in 9 games for Louisville in the AHL last year posting a record of 2-3 with a 3.55 goals against average.

During the 1999-2000 season, Gingras played in 15 games for Providence of the AHL posting a record of 3-9-1 with a 3.08 goals against average and .911 save percentage and posted a 5-1-1 record with a 2.22 goals against average and .920 save percentage with Richmond. He also played in one game with Houston of the IHL.

Gingras was named the ECHL's Goaltender of the Year during the 1998-99 season playing in 50 games for Richmond posting a record of 30-13-3 with a 2.26 goals against average and .924 save percentage helping the Renegades win the Northern Conference Championship and reaching the Kelly Cup Finals only losing in seven games to Mississippi. He also played in one game with Orlando of the IHL during the 98-99 season.

Gingras played junior hockey with Laval of the QMJHL during the 97-98 season posting a 26-22-4 record with a 2.99 goals against average and posted a record of 13-11-1 with a 3.93 goals against average during the 96-97 season. He is 23 years old from Lorretteville, Quebec.   » Return to Top

Pensacola Ice Pilots Patriotic Jerseys were auctioned off after the November 10 game.  The jerseys were worn in the Arkansas game and were auctioned immediately following the game in section 103/104 of the Civic Center.  Proceeds from the sale of the jerseys will go to a disaster relief fund.  All Ice Pilots players were in attendance to model their jerseys and meet with fans.

Pensacola Ice Pilots announced that right wing Rob Sinclair has signed a contract with the team and will be in the line-up tonight when the Ice Pilots play home to Arkansas at 7:05 p.m. The Ice Pilots also placed forward Mikko Kuparinen on the 7-day injured reserve list.

Sinclair, who stands 5'10" and weighs 200 pounds, played in 68 games for the Ice Pilots last season scoring 19 goals, 16 assists for 35 points and picked up 12 penalty minutes. He won the UnSung Hero Award last season. Sinclair also played in 4 games for Baton Rouge last year picking up one assist. Throughout his career, Sinclair has also played for Wheeling and Louisiana in the ECHL, St. John's in the AHL, Columbus in the CHL and college hockey at Princeton. He is from Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and will be wearing the number 15 in tonight's game. Pensacola Ice Pilots announced that forward Mikko Kuparinen has been activated from the 7-day injured reserve list and defenseman Marek Priechodsky has been activated from the 30-day injured reserve list. The Ice Pilots also have placed defenseman Sergei Skrobot on the 7-day injured reserve list and placed forward Mike Kiesman on the 30-day injured reserve list.

Kuparinen has played in 7 games for the Ice Pilots this year scoring 3 goals, 3 assists for 6 points. Priechodsky will be playing in his first game of the year for the Ice Pilots tonight. He injured himself in the first pre-season game at Mobile on October 5th. Skrobot has played in 11 games for the Ice Pilots this season picking up one assist and two penalty minutes and Kiesman has played in 8 games this season picking up 19 penalty minutes.  » Return to Top

Pensacola Ice Pilots announced that right wing Gaetan Royer has been assigned to the Ice Pilots by the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL and his brother defenseman Remi Royer has signed a contract with the Ice Pilots. The Ice Pilots also waived defenseman Chad Wilchynski and placed forward Mike Kiesman on the 7-day injured reserve list.

Gaetan Royer, who stands 6'3" and weighs 210 pounds, played in 58 games for Saint-John in the AHL last year scoring 8 goals, 4 assists for 12 points and picked up 134 penalty minutes helping the Flames win the Calder Cup last season in the AHL. Gaetan has also played in the IHL for Michigan, Grand Rapids and Indianapolis and has played for Jacksonville in the ECHL and the Canadian National Team. He played juniors for Sherbrooke and Beauport in the QMJHL from 1994-1996 and is 25 years old from Donnacona, Quebec and shoots right.

Remi Royer, who stands 6'2" and weighs 210 pounds, played in 18 games for Louisville of the AHL last year scoring one goal, one assist for two points picking up 50 penalty minutes and played in 40 games for Portland scoring one goal, seven assists for eight points and picked up 140 penalty minutes. Remi played in 18 games in the NHL for the Chicago Blackhawks during the 1998-99 season picking up 67 penalty minutes.

Remi Royer has also played in the IHL for Cleveland and Indianapolis and in the QMJHL for Victoriaville, St.-Hyacinthe and Rouyn-Noranda. He was selected in the second round by the Chicago Blackhawks and was the 31st overall player taken in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. Remi is 23 years old and is from Donnacona, Quebec and shoots right.

Pensacola Ice Pilots announced the signing of defenseman Mike Lankshear to an ECHL contract and placed defenseman Marek Priechodsky on the 30-day injured reserve list.

Lankshear, who stands 6'3" and weighs 200 pounds, played in 54 games for Odessa last year in the WPHL scoring 7 goals, 20 assists for 27 points and picked up 38 penalty minutes. He played for Baton Rouge of the ECHL during the 1999-2000 season scoring 5 goals, 22 assists for 27 points and picked up 42 penalty minutes in 62 games played and played for Arkansas of the WPHL during the 1998-99 season scoring 5 goals, 16 assists for 21 points and picked up 26 penalty minutes in 36 games played.

Lankshear played in the OHL from 1995-1999 for Guelph, Windsor and Owen Sound. He is 23 years old from Burlington, Ontario and shoots left. Lankshear was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round and was the 66th overall player in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

They are defenseman Eric Boyte, defenseman Michael Peat, left wing Erich Dumpis, forward Jeff Bernard, right wing Everett Caldwell, left wing Andrew Rodgers and goalie Mike Roberson. The Ice Pilots currently have 22 players on the training camp roster.

Pensacola Ice Pilots announced that goalie Evgeny Konstantinov, forward Mikko Kuparinen, forward Kenton Smith, defenseman Jeremy Van Hoof and defenseman Marek Priechodsky have been assigned to the Ice Pilots from the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL.

Konstantinov, who stands 6' and weighs 176 pounds, played in 27 games last year for the Detroit Vipers of the IHL posting a record of 4-15-2 with a 4.26 goals against average and 8 games for the Louisiana of the ECHL posting a record of 4-4 with a 2.75 goals against average. He played in 24 seconds of a game on December 18, 2000 for the Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Colorado. Konstantinov, who is 20 years old, is from Kazan, Russia and was Tampa Bay's second choice and the 67th overall player selected in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Kuparinen, who stands 6'4" and weighs 213 pounds, played in 43 games for the Detroit Vipers of the IHL last year scoring one goal, five assists for six points and picked up 73 penalty minutes and played in 13 games for Johnstown of the ECHL scoring one goal, four assists for five points and picked up 10 penalty minutes.

During the 1999-2000 season, Kuparinen played in 28 games for Helsinki in Finland picking up two assists and 49 penalty minutes, five games for Detroit in the IHL picking up two penalty minutes and four games for Long Beach of the IHL picking up four penalty minutes. He is 24 years old from Kerava, Finland and was Tampa Bay's tenth choice and the 244th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Smith, who stands 5' 11" and weighs 177 pounds, played in 59 games last season for the Detroit Vipers of the IHL scoring 1 goal, 3 assists for 4 points and picked up 24 penalty minutes and played in 13 games for Johnstown of the ECHL picking up 3 assists and 12 penalty minutes. He played junior hockey for Calgary in the WHL from 1995-2000 playing in 71 games during his final junior season scoring 7 goals, 46 assists for 53 points and picked up 128 penalty minutes. Smith is 22 years old from Edmonton, Alberta.

Van Hoof, who stands 6'2" and weighs 208 pounds, played in 65 games for Ottawa of the OHL last year scoring 1 goal, 14 assists for 15 points and picked up 49 penalty minutes. He played in 66 games for Ottawa during the 1999-2000 season scoring 4 goals, 14 assists for 18 points and picked up 71 penalty minutes. Van Hoof, who is 20 years old, was Tampa Bay's ninth choice and the 222nd player selected in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Priechodsky, who stands 6'2" and weighs 194 pounds, played for HC Bratislava in Slovakia last season picking up 5 assists and 6 penalty minutes in 44 games played. During the 1999-2000 season, he played in 6 games for HC Bratislava picking up 2 penalty minutes and played in 28 games for HC Trnava scoring 2 goals, 8 assists for 10 points and picked up 54 penalty minutes. The Ice Pilots announced that the Ice Pilots acquired defenseman Trevor Gillies from the Greensboro Generals for future considerations and traded Gillies and future considerations (from Reading in the Aldous trade) to the Augusta Lynx for center Louis Dumont.

Dumont, who stands 5'10"and weighs 180 pounds, played in 60 games for Augusta last year scoring 25 goals, 47 assists for 72 points and picked up 108 penalty minutes and also played in three games for Lowell in the AHL. He also played in 44 games for Augusta during the 1999-2000 season scoring 26 goals, 37 assists for 63 points and picked up 38 penalty minutes and played in 14 games for Ayr Scottish Eagles in the BISL scoring one goal, four assists for five points and picked up 16 penalty minutes.

Dumont has also played for Louisiana, Wheeling and Tallahassee in the ECHL, Manitoba in the IHL and Syracuse in the AHL. He scored 30 or more goals three times in the ECHL with Louisiana with his best year during the 1996-97 season when he scored 42 goals, 45 assists for 87 points and picked up 106 penalty minutes.

Dumont played junior hockey with Regina and Kamloops of the WHL from 1990-1994 with his best season during 1992-93 when he scored 62 goals, 59 assists for 121 points and picked up 97 penalty minutes. He is 28 years old from Calgary, Alberta and shoots right.

The Ice Pilots announced the signing of right wing John Tripp to a contract for the 2001-2002 season.

Tripp, who stands 6'3" and weighs 225 pounds, played in 36 games with the Ice Pilots last season scoring 19 goals, 14 assists for 33 points and picked up 110 penalty minutes. Six out of his nineteen goals were game winning goals, which was a team high for the season. He also played for Houston and Milwaukee of the IHL and Hershey of the AHL last season picking up 8 assists and 45 penalty minutes in 32 games.

Tripp has also played in his career for the Saint-John Flames in the AHL and the Johnstown Chiefs and Roanoke Express of the ECHL. He played juniors for Oshawa in the OHL from 1994-1997 scoring 28 goals, 20 assists for 48 points and picked up 126 penalty minutes in 59 games during his last season.

Tripp was drafted twice in the NHL selected in the third round and 77th player overall in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche and was selected in the second round and the 42nd player overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames. He is 24 years old from Kingston, Ontario and shoots right.

The Ice Pilots announced the signing of right wing Brad Cruikshank (pronounced Crook-Shank) and defenseman Nicholas Bilotto (pronounced Bill-Lotto) to contracts for the 2001-2002 season.

Cruikshank, who stands 5'10" and weighs 180 pounds, played in 68 games last season with Fayetteville in the CHL scoring 4 goals, 7 assists for 11 points and picked up 302 penalty minutes. He played in 13 games for the Toledo Storm of the ECHL during the 1999-2000 season scoring 2 goals, 2 assists for 4 points and picked up 16 penalty minutes. Cruikshank is 22 years old from Kelowna, British Columbia and shoots right.

Bilotto, who stands 6'2" and weighs 208 pounds, played in 53 games last year for Elmira in the UHL scoring 5 goals, 16 assists for 21 points and picked up 142 penalty minutes. He played for Drummondville, Quebec and Beauport of the QMJHL from 1996-2000 scoring 27 goals, 87 assists for 114 points and picked up 443 penalty minutes. Bilotto, who is a 1997 draft pick of the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round and 149th overall in the NHL Entry Draft, is 22 years old from Montreal, Quebec and shoots right.

The Ice Pilots announced that defenseman Chris Aldous has been traded to the Reading Royals for future considerations.

After being acquired in a trade from New Orleans, Aldous played in 12 games for the Ice Pilots last season scoring one goal, three assists for four points and picked up eight penalty minutes.

The Ice Pilots announced the training camp schedule for the 2001-2002 season.

Camp will begin on Monday, October 1st with two-a-day sessions from 9 a.m. - Noon and an intra-squad scrimmage from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. All practices and scrimmages are open to the public throughout the entire season. Players are expected to report by Friday, September 28th. A list of the entire training camp schedule is attached.

The Ice Pilots announced the signing of right wing Greg Pankewicz to a contract for the 2001-2002 season.

Pankewicz, who stands 6'0" and weighs 180 pounds, played the last two seasons for the Houston Aeros in the International Hockey League scoring 22 goals, 24 assists for 46 points and picked up 231 penalty minutes in 74 games last season and scored 22 goals, 19 assists for 41 points and picked up 134 penalty minutes in 62 games during the 1999-2000 season. He played in the NHL for the Calgary Flames during the 1998-99 season picking up three assists and 20 penalty minutes in 18 games and played in 3 games for the Ottawa Senators during the 93-94 season picking up two penalty minutes.

Pankewicz begins his eleventh year of professional hockey this season. During his career he has also played with Kentucky, Saint-John, Portland, Prince-Edward-Island and New-Haven of the AHL, Manitoba of the IHL and Knoxville of the ECHL. His best offensive season was during 97-98 with the Manitoba Moose scoring 42 goals, 34 assists for 76 points and picking up 246 penalty minutes in 76 games. Pankewicz played his junior hockey with Regina of the WHL and is from Drayton Valley, Alberta. He turns 31 years old on October 6th and shoots right.

The Ice Pilots announced that the team has acquired center Dean Tiltgen from the Augusta Lynx for future considerations.

Tiltgen, who stands 6'1" and weighs 195 pounds, played the last two years with Augusta playing in all 72 games last season scoring 30 goals, 38 assists for 68 points and picked up 51 penalty minutes and played in 69 games during the 1999-2000 season scoring 31 goals, 27 assists for 58 points and picked up 60 penalty minutes. He played for the Arkansas Glaciercats of the WPHL during the 1998-1999 season scoring 30 goals, 39 assists for 69 points and picked up 79 penalty minutes in 69 games played.

Tiltgen also played for Baton Rouge in the ECHL during the 1997-1998 season scoring 14 goals, 15 assists for 29 points and picked up 41 penalty minutes in 61 games played. He played his college hockey at the University of Alberta from 1995-1997 where he was a teammate of the Ice Pilots Paul Strand.

Tiltgen also played in the Western Hockey League from 1990-1995 for Tri-City, Victoria and Red Deer and played in three games for the Canadian National Team during the 1995-1996 season. He is a former draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL selected in the 8th round and the 179th overall in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Titlgen is 27 years old from Edmonton, Alberta and shoots left.

The Ice Pilots announced the signing of left wing Paul Strand to a contract for the 2001-2002 season.

Strand, who stands 5'11" and weighs 190 pounds, played for the Ice Pilots during the 1999-2000 season scoring 19 goals, 26 assists for 45 points and picked up 69 penalty minutes in 57 games. He also played in 12 games for Louisiana that year scoring 5 goals, 5 assists for 10 points in 12 games and picked up 25 penalty minutes. Strand was the top scorer for the Ice Pilots during the season with 55 points.

Strand played last season with Topeka of the Central Hockey League scoring 25 goals, 24 assists for 49 points and picked up 170 penalty minutes in 64 games played. He played for Hamburg in Germany during the 1998-99 season scoring 15 goals, 21 assists for 36 points and picked up 134 penalty minutes in 41 games played.

Strand played for both Baton Rouge and Raleigh of the ECHL during the 1996-97 season scoring 27 goals, 27 assists for 54 points and picked up 127 penalty minutes in 64 games played. He played for the University of Alberta from 1992-1997 scoring 86 goals, 155 assists for 241 points and picked up 287 penalty minutes in 192 games played. Strand is 29 years old from Sudbury, Alberta and shoots left.

Kiesman, who stands 6'2" and weighs 187 pounds, played in 37 games last year with the Detroit Vipers of the IHL scoring two goals and one assist for three points and picking up 59 penalty minutes and played in 30 games with Johnstown of the ECHL scoring one goal, three assists for four points picking up 56 penalty minutes.

Kiesman played in 9 games with the Michigan K-Wings of the IHL during the 1999-2000 season picking up one assist and ten penalty minutes and played in seven playoff games for Muskegon on the UHL scoring one goal.

Kiesman played junior hockey from 1995-1999 for Prince George of the Western Hockey League scoring 24 goals, 34 assists for 58 points and picked up 348 penalty minutes and played for Portland of the WHL during the 98-99 and 99-00 season scoring 25 goals, 20 assists for 45 points and picked up 183 penalty minutes in 87 games. He is 22 years old from Prince Rupert, British Columbia and shoots left.

Shalawylo, who stands 5' 11" and weighs 191 pounds, played last season in 25 games with Fayetteville in the Central Hockey League scoring 11 goals, 9 assists for 20 points and picked up 8 penalty minutes. He also played in 7 games with Dayton in the ECHL scoring one goal and picking up four penalty minutes.

Shalawylo played his college hockey at Miami University of Ohio from 1996-2000 scoring 23 goals, 43 assists for 66 points and picking up 67 penalty minutes in 119 games played. He is 24 years old from Warren, Michigan and shoots left.

During the 1999-2000 season, he played in 45 games for Wheeling of the ECHL scoring 9 goals, 18 assists for 27 points picking up 6 penalty minutes, 14 games for Louisiana of the ECHL scoring 3 goals, 2 assists for 5 points picking up 12 penalty minutes and 7 games for St. John's of the AHL scoring one goal, two assists for three points.

Sinclair played 70 games for Columbus of the CHL during the 1998-99 season scoring 40 goals, 35 assists for 75 points and picked up 8 penalty minutes. He played his college hockey at Princeton from 1994-1998 playing in 115 games scoring 29 goals, 23 assists for 52 points and picked up 61 penalty minutes. The Ice Pilots announced the signing of forward Matt Cusson (pronounced CUE-SAWN) to a contract for the 2001-2002 season.

Cusson, who stands 6'0" and weighs 205 pounds, is 22 years old and from Calgary, Alberta. Last season, he played in 45 games with the Ice Pilots scoring 4 goals, 14 assists for 18 points (21 PIM). He was the top scorer for the Saskatoon Blades (WHL) during the 1999-2000 season scoring 33 goals, 34 assists for 67 points (69 PIM) in 72 games. During his four years with Saskatoon starting in 1996, Cusson scored 89 goals, 131 assists for 220 points (204 PIM). He attended training camp with the Calgary Flames last year and played in four games at the University of Calgary picking up two assists.

The Ice Pilots announced that the team has reacquired forward John McNabb from the Louisiana IceGators to complete an earlier trade from last year. (Briane Thompson to Louisiana for Dalen Hrooshkin, Kevin Karlander, Nathan Borega and future considerations. McNabb is the future considerations.)

McNabb played in 26 games with the Ice Pilots last season scoring 5 goals, 14 assists (18 PIM). He also played in 18 games with Louisiana scoring 4 goals, 10 assists (22 PIM) and played in 25 games with Johnstown scoring 9 goals, 6 assists (20 PIM).

During the 99-00 season, McNabb played in 66 games for the Ice Pilots scoring 17 goals, 30 assists for 47 points (34 PIM). He scored 132 points for South Surry in the BCJHL during the 1998-99 season with 54 goals and 78 assists picking up 62 penalty minutes. The Ice Pilots announced that the team has traded forward Curtis Valentine and defenseman Louis Mass to the Pee Dee Pride for left wing Martin Galik (pronounced Gay-Lick).

Galik stands 6'1" and weighs 193 pounds and is from Bratislava, Czech Republic. Last season, he played in 28 games with Pee Dee picking up three assists and 12 penalty minutes and played in 21 games for Greensboro scoring 3 goals, 6 assists (8 PIM). Galik also played for Greensboro in 1999-2000 scoring 11 goals, 18 assists (20 PIM) in 58 games. From 1997-1999, he played for Sault-Ste.-Marie (OHL) scoring 45 goals, 42 assists for 87 points (42 PIM) in 115 games. Galik is 22 years old and shoots left.

The Ice Pilots announced the signing of defenseman Derek Eberle to a contract for the 2001-2002 season.

Eberle, who stands 5'10" and weighs 205 pounds from Regina, Saskatoon, will begin his ninth season in pro hockey. He has played in the ECHL with Charlotte, Nashville, Dayton and Jacksonville, in the IHL with Atlanta, Manitoba and Ft. Wayne, and in the HAL withProvidence and Carolina. His best offensive seasons were with the Nashville Knights during the 95-96 season scoring 58 points in 50 games (65 PIM) and during the 94-95 season scoring 57 points in 57 games (96 PIM).

Coach's Quote: "Derek will bring a lot of leadership on defense for us this season. He is a skilled veteran defenseman that has been around the game and will have a presence both off and on the ice which any team needs."

The Ice Pilots announced the signing of Todd Gordon as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations and named Darryl Noren Assistant Coach. 

The Ice Pilots also announced an NHL affiliate working agreement with the Tampa Bay Lightning for the 2001-2002 season.
