________________________ 1999 _______________________ Team formed by Coach Brett Blaisdell in August, 1999, as the Greece
Buccaneers Girls U11 soccer team. Joining him is Assistant Coach J.R. Garcia
and eight members from the 1999 Greece Lightning Select Soccer Team. The
eight girls, Hannah B, Katie, Stephanie G, Caitlin, Stephanie R, Kat, Jaclyn
and Kristen, are joined by newcomers Kelsey, Amanda, Tiffany, Stephanie C,
Melissa, Allyson, Brittany and Stephanie S to fill out the first year roster. Buccaneer's Bulletin Volume 1, No. 1, is published by Soccer Dad in
October. The team's website is also up and running during the month of
October. ________________________ 2000 _______________________ Competing in their first indoor season at the Rochester Sports Garden,
the team finishes with a 0-7-1 record. Jaclyn scores the team's very first
indoor goal on February 6 against the Greece Eclipse in a 4-8 losing effort.
Overall, Melissa leads the team in scoring with 3 goals during the inaugural
indoor season. Playing in the Division 2 bracket, the team finishes in third place
with an 8-2-2 record in their first outdoor season together. The first league
game goal is scored by Kristen, on the assist from Kat, during game one
against Irondequoit on May 31st. For the season, Melissa leads the
team is scoring with 21 goals. In their first year of tournament play, the team finishes with a 7-12-2
record. On May 20th, the team's very first outdoor goal is scored
during the Irondequoit Tournament against the Brighton Stormers Twisters by
Melissa, on the assist from Kristen. Melissa also records the teams first
"hat trick" during the same game. Tournament highlights include the
team's 4-0 win over the Spencerport Blizzard on June 25th in the
infamous Mud Bowl game at the Spencerport Invitational. At the Marcellus
Tournament, in an outstanding defensive effort where Keepers Hannah B and
Kelsey record a game high 27 saves, the team misses a chance to advance to
the championship game by losing in a shoot out to the Westside Soccer Club. Overall, the team plays 33 games and finishes 15-14-4 in their first
outdoor season of play. 63 goals are scored from 521 shots that are taken.
The team also records 15 shutouts. Kelsey wins the Pete Pavia award and Soccer Mom and Dad host the team's
first campout. ________________________ 2001 _______________________ Coach Ron Oyer joins the team as a second assistant to Coach Brett.
Hannah H, who played previously for Coach Brett on the 1999 Greece Lightning
Select Soccer Team, joins the team along with new players Casey and Danielle.
Playing in their second year of indoor soccer at Westside Soccer, the
team finishes with a 5-3-1 record. Melissa again leads the team in scoring
with 13 goals for the season. Overall, the team scores 49 goals. In their
first indoor playoff appearance, the team loses 1-4 against the Greece
Cobras. Coach Brett moves the team up to Division 1 for the outdoor season of
play. The team posts a 5-5-2 record in league play, good enough for 6th
place in the 11 team division. Taking first place, Coach Brett and the team win their first tournament
as Buccaneers at Irondequoit on May 20th. The girls go on to post two more
first place finishes at both Hilton and their own Buccaneers tournament. The
team ends up with a 14-4-1 tournament record and registers 8 shutouts. For the outdoor season, the team finishes with a 19-9-3 record for the
31 games played. 58 goals are scored on 460 shots taken and 12 shutouts are
recorded for the year. Casey scores 16 goals to lead the team. Digital photography comes to the team and tournament pictures are now
available for the team's Buccaneers Bulletin and website. Stephanie R wins the Pete Pavia award and Kelsey's mom and dad host the
second annual Lady Bucs campout. ________________________ 2002 _______________________ New players Kristina, Carla, Christina and Danielle join the team as Coach Brett expands the roster to 17 players. The Buccaneers Bulletin ceases publication. Kelsey's mom Sheila takes on the role as Team Manager. Playing at the new Total Sports Experience facility for their third season indoors, the team finishes 7-3-1. Out of the 42 goals scored indoors, Melissa leads the team with 10 goals. In playoff action, the team advances to the finals by beating Hilton but loses to the Jr. Rhinos in the Championship Game. In their second season of Division 1 play, the team finishes with a 5-5-2 record,
identical to the previous year. This effort, which saw a significant increase in their
shots on goal compared to last year (as well as shots against them), lands the team in 5th
place in a 10 team division. In tournament play, highlights included a second place finish
in the Spencerport tournament, losing in the finals to the Greece Eclipse Red team.
The team’s 6-10-1 overall tournament record reflects stiff competition in a number of
games played in U14 age brackets. The team finishes the outdoor season with an 11-15-3 overall record for the 29 games
played. 54 goals are scored with Casey leading the team with 13. Kelsey’s 114 shots
on goal are a team high and the team takes a total of 533 shots, a significant increase
from the previous years output. Four shutouts are also recorded for the season. Katie wins the Foundation (Pete Pavia) Award and Melissa’s mom and dad host the
third annual Lady Bucs campout. ________________________ 2003 _______________________ Major roster changes occur including the addition of the following new players: Bianca, Brittany, Nicole, Joycelyn, Sarah, Tricia, Shelly, Jenna and Erin. Caitlin's mom Joann becomes Team Manager and coaches Andy Ellis and Bobbi Timmons join the team. For the 2003 indoor season, the team played at Total Sports and finished with a 2-5-1 record. 17 goals are scored with Nicole leading the team with 4. Opponents score 28 goals against the team. Suffering a loss on the final day of league play, the team just misses filling the forth and final playoff slot. Katie and Kat are named the team's first permanent captains at the onset on the 2003 outdoor season. The team finishes with a 0-11-1 record in outdoor Division 1 play. Playing in the Marcellus tournament for the second time, the team reaches the semi finals by winning their division bracket. In an outstanding game, the team loses 0-1 in the second overtime period. For tournament play, the team finishes the season with a 2-9-2 record. Overall, the team posts a 2-20-3 record for the 25 games played outdoors. Some very competitive games are played as the team continued to develop over the course of the season. Jaclyn and Nicole lead the team in scoring with 3 goals apiece. Of the 140 shots taken, Jaclyn has a team high 20. Danielle and Hannah have an outstanding season in goal, recording 189 and 58 saves respectively. As evidence of the team’s outstanding defensive play not reflected in their record, only 51 goals are allowed for the season, five fewer when compared to the same number of games the previous year. Kat wins the Foundation (Pete Pavia) Award and Christina G’s mom and dad host the
season ending party. Coach Brett retires from travel soccer. ________________________ 2004 _______________________ Andy Ellis takes over as Head Coach of the Girls U15 soccer team. Joining him as an assistant is Kevin Pietrzak. New players include
Emily, Krissy, Becky, Margo, Lexi, Carla & Beth. Kat and Danielle are named captains for the 2004 season. Playing in Division 2A, the team finishes with a 4-8-0 record. In tournament play, the team posts a record of 2-7-4.
Tournament highlights include some very competitive games at Marcellus and the Buccaneers tournament. In addition, at Spencerport the team
ties both Spencerport and the Greece Eclipse Red, two Division 1 teams. For the 2004 season, the team finishes with an overall record of 6-15-4. Seven of the teams 15 losses were by only 1 goal, a testament to the team's competitive play.
Of the 28 goals scored, Margo leads the team with 9. Shelly has a team high 4 assists. ________________________ 2005 _______________________ Chelsea, Sarah and Marissa join the team. Kat and Katie are named captains for the 2005 season. For the 2005 outdoor season, the team posts a record of 2-10-0 playing in Division 2.
In tournament play, the team finishes 2-8-4. Highlights include beating rival Irondequoit in their tournament, playing
the Greece Buccaneers White team to a 2-2 draw and making it into the championship game at the
Greece Buccaneers tournament. Overall, the team finishes the season 4-18-4. Margo leads the team in scoring with 7 goals.
The team scores 22 goals, records 5 shut outs and 5 games are lost by only a 1-goal
differential. Regular goalie Danielle goes down with a knee injury late in the season and Margo, Kat
and Shelly share time in goal. The team plays its last game on July 24th, 2005, against the Greece Buccaneers White team. Margo's goal against Emily
is the last goal scored. The Greece Buccaneers Girls U16 team folds after the 2005 season. In the 6 years competing in travel soccer, the team
played a total of 168 outdoor league and tournament games. It's final outdoor record stands at 57 wins, 91 loses and 20 ties.
Including another 36 indoor games, with a 14-18-4 record, the final count for the team stands at 204 games played. A total of 41 players were rostered since the team formed in August 1999. Through all the practices and games played, these girls were given the opportunity to develop and improve their skills in the game of soccer.
Many have gone on to play for their respective school's JV and Varsity teams. Which, after all, was the whole point. |
