Kenyon Speed Board Lamp

In June 1958 four hundred pairs of Kenyon Speed Board lamps were ordered from Arthur Holmes Ltd. Wellington. who relayed the order to Alex Kenyon & Co. Ltd. Manchester. The cost was 15/6d. ($1.55) each. 125 were shipped to Auckland. 125 to Wellington. 100 to Lyttleton and 50 to Port Charmers.

The specification stated they were to be fitted with one clear and one yellow "Serilight" lens. 400 were to be embossed "right" and 400 "left". The lamps were painted yellow, and supplied with a tinplate fuel cistern sufficient for 72 hour burning. No burners were ordered as sufficient were held in stock in New Zealand. When received these lamps embossed "Keyton’s Patent Serilight Lens, 72 lamp, NZR" with either "left hand" or "right hand".
