Drawing upon well established human development/learning theories and concepts and variety of information about students, the preprofessional teacher plans instructional activities.
7.1--Lesson plans that use multiple learning activities in developmentally appropriate ways. 7.2--University supervisor's assessment of student's effective use of learning and human development theory in planning, delivery of instruction, and evaluation of learning outcomes. 7.3--Cooperating teacher assessment of student's ability to adjust instruction to meet student's developmental needs, maintain motivation and foster a supportive learning environment.
Types of assessments used in specific programs (as noted): 7.4--GPA in formal coursework dedicated to principles of human development and/or learning. (Agric, Health, Elementary, PE, Sp. Ed., Foreign Lang., Math) 7.5--Student research papers or poster session presentations on a theory/concepts from human learning or development applied to instructional area. (Art, Health, Sp. Ed., Early Childhood, Foreign Lang.) 7.6--Sequential set of instructional objectives that reflect principles of cognitive and affective learning in logical sequence for a unit of instruction. (Agric, Elementary, Music, PE, Sp. Ed., English, Math) 7.7--Exercises requiring analyses/adaptation of texts or curricular materials in light of their appropriateness for students with different developmental levels, special needs, linguistic differences, and cultural backgrounds. Ed., English, Social Studies) 7.8--Student-developed assessment that fits developmental level(s) of K-12 pupils in a specific teaching situation and measures learning outcomes commensurate with goals of instruction. Ed., English) 7.9--Analysis/critique of case study examples from perspective of teacher's communication and adaptation of instruction to meet student individual differences in intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development.
