Practice One -- Assessment
Uses assessment strategies (traditional and alternate) to assist the continuous development of the learner.
The preprofessional teacher collects and uses data gathered from a variety of sources.  These sources will include both traditional and alternate assessment strategies.  Furthermore, the teacher can identify and match the student's instructional plan with their cognitive, social, linguistic, cultural, emotional, and physical needs.

1.1--Instructional plans for class and/or individual pre K-12 students that include descriptions of assessment procedures to be used.
1.2--Students products, papers, or course assignments requiring analyses of pre K-12 standardized and/or classroom assessment to determine cognitive, social, linguistic, cultural, emotional, and physical needs prior to instructional planning.
1.3--Cooperating teacher and university supervisor assessment of use of traditional and alternative assessment strategies.

Case studies/exercises that require consideration of quality of assessment data in identifying pre K-12 student needs and evaluating instructional progress. (Health, PE, Sp. Ed., Foreign Lang., English)
1.5--Case studies/exercises that require review and selection of appropriate assessment measures or strategies given diverse student cognitive, linguistic, physical, and development needs. (Elementary, PE, Sp. Ed., Early Childhood, Foreign Lang., English)
1.6--Peer evaluation of student presentations on case studies or problems in assessment uses and interpretation. (Health, Music, Sp. Ed.)
1.7--Student developed traditional and alternative assessment instruments submitted for portfolio inclusion or course grade. (Agric., Art, Health, Elementary, PE, Sp. Ed., English, Science, Math)
1.8--Sample student-developed assessments collected by cooperating teacher or university supervisor. (Agric, Art, Health, PE, Early Childhood, Math)
1.9--Videotape document of student performance in mock or actual situations giving assessment feedback to pre K-12. (Music, PE, English)
1.10--Student-developed and student-implemented traditional and alternative assessment instruments appropriate to the social studies. (Social Studies)
