   1.  Iowa City West
The Trojans have the state's best front in Glenn Worley and Kevin Long, both 6'8 and 6'6 respectively. And the West back court should be helped by an up and coming sophomore named James Ebert, and the apparent transfer of former Iowa City High starter Joe Walker.

  2. West Delaware
This looks to be the year for Dennis Geraghty's squad.  They return 4 starters including 1st team all-state performer Todd Klosterman. And with the transfer of Honorable mention all-state guard Matt Uthoff look for West Delaware to be the favorite in 3-A.

   3. West Des Moines Valley
Valley looks to start right where they left off last year.  Luke Jacobsen is the top returnee for Valley, and should help improve on a 15-10 record from last year.

    4. Sioux City East
Sioux City will be lead by 6'5 Jeff Carlson who averaged around 15 PPG and helped out by 6'6 big man Justin Vortherms.

   5. Dubuque Wahlert
The Golden Eagles return 3 starters including 6'6 center Russ Francis.  Wahlert always plays great defense and this deep squad will be no exception.

   6.  Davenport Assumpution
Davenport Assumpution won the class 3A-state title last year and they should make a strong run for it this year again.  Only one starter returns but expect 6th man Matt Jenkins to play a big role this year.

   7.  Waterloo East
Waterloo East had an incredible sophomore team two years ago, now those sophomores are seniors.  East should be looking for a third consecutive trip to the 4A-state tournament.

    8.  Forest City
Forest City returns 4 starters to a team that went 21-3 last season.  Forest City will be lead by 6-8 Jr. Rob Kampman, who might be the best junior in the state.

   9. West Des Moines Dowlling
Four starters return for this squad, which should bring about a state playoff run.

  10.  Cedar Rapids Jefferson
Jefferson will be a hard team to judge.   Last year they were very inconsistent. This year they are very talented, Mims should be their best player and expect sophomore big man Greg Dollmeyer to have a very good year.
