The Hilltop Highlanders are an APBA\BBW franchise, that began play as San Jose in the United Apba Leagues' 1986 expansion draft. The franchise moved in '87 to Struthers, Nashua in '88, Rosemount in '89 and Meadville in '93 before settling in Hilltop in '94. In 1998, the U.A.L. was broke in two, with another identical league (the Simple Apba League) forming. The Highlanders remained in the U.A.L. as well as joining the newly developed league. In 2000 the Highlanders officially resigned from the U.A.L., concentrating solely on the S.A.L.
