What I like to do with my spare time???
Camping and Travel
When they were young, Sue and I always took the boys camping...they loved it. We had a tent and some sleeping bags and camped anywhere we could, ususally at Cloudcroft, NM and the Gila. Hiking, fishing (never caught jack!) and sitting around the campfire as a family are cherished memories now. When we had more than a weekend, we would go further. We loved the Grand Canyon and visited there 5 times or so. If I could go there every weekend I would. There's something special about the magnificance of it.
Of course as our livelyhood allowed us, we bought a "pop-up" trailer, then a small trailer, then a big one...one thing always stayed the same though...the togetherness of the four of us. We "graduated" to travelling to places like Arlington (see our Red Sox play the Rangers), San Antonio, Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas, just to mention a few places we love to visit. But we always returned to the quiet and tranquility of the forest. No phones, no cars, no fast food...just nature...it brought us together with a closeness I had never known.
Our current MONSTER...
Sports
Played em all at some level...as did the boys. Now I love to watch them...live when I can get the time off and convince Sue.
Fenway Park, Boston 1990
Computers
Will fool with them til my eyes close with weariness. By nature of my job, I love testing programs, surfing the net, emailing, networking, UNIXing and just plain computering. What a time we live in...I know everyone, most, don't know much about em...but in the next 20 years I look forward to seeing the development of the Information Age...it's going to be something...
Music
Well, well. If it weren't for music...what would get us through? When I hit my first teen years, 13 to be exact, it was 1965...what can I say. The Beatles, Stones, Turtles, Lovin'Spoonful,Sonny & Cher...I could go on forever. But it wasn't until 1971 that I heard the enchanting flute and acoustic guitar of Ian Anderson mix with the wailing guitar of Martin Barre to produce a sound that even today cannot be labeled Rock, Blues, Classic or Folk ...because it's a mix of em' all. JETHRO TULL has been around for some 30 years and still going strong with a worldwide concert every year - playing smaller venues now allows for an "intermission" and audience that soaks in and appreciates the magic. I truly hope I am never "Too old too rock and roll and too young to die!!"
Beer and BBQ
What can I say...I'm half Irish and half French. Love to grill anything - chicken, ribs, steaks. (see camping in the forest).
