Rubber Compounds
BLACK: Compound loaded with carbon black for better power transmission.
GREEN: "Soft rubber", a compound which
helps shed mud and optimises grip.
Casings
Casing fabrics with densities of
-
420 cords per dm (approx. 125 TPI).
-
240 cords per dm (approx. 66 TPI).
-
110 cords per dm (approx. 33 TPI).
The finer the cord, the greater the density. This is of primary concern
in developing a lightweight, flexible, easy rolling tyre. But we've also
added a rubber reinforcing strip to the low density casings for improved
protection against pinch flats.
Sidewall
-
Skin Wall: the sidewall, comprised soledy of enclosed cords, is very flexible
and fine.
-
Gum Wall: the sidewall, covered with reinforcing rubber, is well protected.
Beads
-
Foldable beads: made of fibreglass, the flexible bead is lighter, and can
be folded for easier transport.
-
Steel beads: the most solution, uses a tough, wire bead.
Reinforcements
-
Made of carbon or kevlar to limit punctures, or rubber to guard against
pinch flats.
Cross
Sections
With widths ranging from 1.25" to 2.2", the WildGripper tyre is available in various cross sections to meet all load and pressure combinations.
-
1.25" and 1.5" : for road riding. The 1.25" is specifically designed for sport situations.
-
1.95" : the most common cross section for off-road riding.
-
2.1" and 2.2" : these wider cross sections increase the volume of air to better handle heavier loads and harder impacts. 2.1" is preferred for loads greater than 225 lb (102 kg)., while the 2.2" is recomended specifically for downhill racing.
