This was another box of Donruss Preferred that drew blanks. The Golds were both really lousy -- the ship has sailed on both Tkachuk and Arnott -- and the Silvers didn't provide much consolation either. Most of the parallel/SP hits were of guys who have long since departed the hobby: Tkachuk, Arnott, Weight, Lehtinen, Turgeon. Obviously with any older release you're going to have that, but I was a bit disappointed to not get a few "still relevant" hits from those more common parallels.
Of course, as with any box, it wasn't all bad. There was a Platinum Cut to the Chase, which aren't the easiest to pull, and the corresponding Platinum SP of Paul Kariya, a guy I don't mind having around. There were also a couple of nice Smyth hits late in the box and the Zubrus Silver is kinda cool as well. It's not exactly what one buys the box for, but it's not bad.
I guess it's just the nature of the beast, with older releases you are going to get bogged down in guys that aren't really relevant anymore ... sometimes more than others.
