Super game on a chilli windy night Lightning came up from a 3-0 down at the
first half to tie the game 4-4 on regulation. 1st goal for Hornets clearly
off-side with 3 player trapped and an unsure young linesman let the play to
go on costing Lightning the game. 4-5 minutes waisted by center referee,
after 1st goal, was not given as additional time at the half.
In the second Lightning came back with two goals, but Hornets had one more
to put the game at 4-2 after Robby left center stricker unmarked and easily
finished scoring past Keeper Matthew. Two penalties denied after Fernando
being stricked and pushed to the ground. Lightning attack and pressure did
paid off with two more goals. No time was added for the waisted time and
regulation ended to continue in overtime periods. With the wind in their favor
Hornets scored after a shot clear across the left touchline, with wind help,
travelled above keeper's head and in the net to give Hornets the lead. In the
2nd half of overtime Lightning tried to level the score. A penalty denied
in the box and game cutted short to 9 minutes instead of ten denied Lightning
any chance to tie.
It has been a great game for both team and very exciting and the
bad luck and referee's mistakes end up costing Lightning the berth to
the 2nd leg of the Cup, definetely with the extra time waisted by Mr Mcarty
not added to the game, the 1st goal clearly offside denied by linesman,
and at least one clear penalty not being called, Lightning exited the Cup
with their Heads up but with a bitter taste for such misfortune.
Hornets will play Tuesday Quarterfinal game.
