NLCS MVP:
Sterling Hitchcock
So much for all that talk about the Padres blowing it.
The surprising Padres reached the World Series for the first time since 1984, shutting down the Atlanta's comeback bid behind Sterling Hitchcock for a 5-0 victory Wednesday in Game 6 of the NLCS.
Hitchcock beat Randy Johnson to get San Diego into the NLCS, then he won against a couple of other former Cy Young winners, Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine. Hitchcock, at 27 the youngest of the Padres starters, was voted the NLCS MVP.
