My Underwater Pictures |
Back to Main Site |
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the world's best underwater photographer, but I do manage to bring home a few keepers after most dive trips. Here are a few of the better ones (representing roughly 0.00000000000000000000001% of all the pictures I have taken)...
But for some Bizarre reason, probably lack of submissions, Rodale's Scuba Diving decided to nominate me Photographer of the Week, which you can read about here .
In March 1999, I was surprised and honored to be the first winner of Skin Diver's on-line photo competition as well, with a picture of my good friend, San, snorkelling with a small whale shark.
The pictures on this site were taken with my two set-ups: A Nikonos V with 35 and 16 mm lenses, and an Ikelite SS-200 strobe. Also, Sea & Sea 1:2 and 1:3 macro extension tubes; Or with my new baby, the housed system:
For my Christmas present to myself, I invested (and I do mean invested) in a Nikon F70 with a 24-50mm lens, and an Ikelite housing. I've also added an Ikelite SS-50 strobe with an Ikelite TTL slave sensor to my set-up. Having 2 strobes (albeit of different output) has dramatically improved the lighting quality of my shots.
I have since (surprise!) expanded the rig with a 60mm macro lens and recently a 105mm macro lens as well. The results have been most pleasing, and the first ones can be seen in the "Latest Scans" gallery below.
I finally spent my few remaining bucks on the bits that would allow me to add the Nikonos V to the Ikelite rig, to give me more flexibility and more exposures. My baby now looks like this: | ![]() |
Naturally, I own the copyright © to all these pictures, and I'll be seriously annoyed if I see them in any commercial context without my permission.
If you want to use any of my pictures for ANY purpose, e-mail me to discuss it. I am not unreasonable, especially if it is for a good cause.
