THE GOLDBRICKER ROTISSERIE BASEBALL LEAGUE RULES for the 2004 Season
I. LEAGUE RULES. The basic rules that are found in The Rotisserie League
Baseball Book by Glen Waggoner and that is updated every year are what will
govern our league. The rules mentioned on these pages supersede any rule you
might find in that book. We will use the eight basic statistical categories, the
eight as outlined in the book Rotisserie League Baseball are -
team batting average, home runs, RBI's, and stolen bases
offensively; the pitching categories are wins, saves, team ERA, and ratio
(hits + walks/innings pitched). We will go with a
27 man roster: the basic 23 man roster listed in the book and
add an additional outfielder, utility infielder, a pitcher and a player which
we will call the 27th player that can be any position and select players
only in the National League. Statistics will be provided by Rhinostats with
the league picking up the fee (the 2003 fee was $45). We will start the season
with an auction to fill out the team rosters. You may retain a
maximum of fifteen and no minimum number of players
must be kept. Roster freeze date is March 15, 2004 0r roughly 2 weeks before the auction date on March 26th.II. LEAGUE OFFICIALS. The commissioner will preside over the auction. The commissioner is
responsible to ensure the integrity of the league is maintained and no one
gains an unfair advantage. The commissioner and two other owners will be the rules committee and decide any rulings necessary
during the course of the season. One owner (Bob G.) will be designated
the transaction officer/treasurer. His primary responsibilities will be to record the weekly transactions
and collect the monies that will be dispensed at the end of the season. One owner
(the Commish - Bob G.) will be designated the statistical bookkeeper and be responsible
for the weekly statistics and standings.III. PRIZE MONEY. The breakdown of the prize money will be by a percentage
system of 1st place 50%; 2nd place 20%; 3rd place 15%; 4th 10%;
and 5th 5%.IV. FEES. 1. Each team pays $1.00 for a trade. 2. Waiving a player costs nothing. 3. Reserving a player on the Disabled List costs nothing. 4. Activating a reserved player = $1.00. 5. Call-up from the free agent pool to fill a roster hole is $2.50,
however, his salary is still only $1.00. 6. Each minor league player drafted at the auction costs $1.00 per selection
(for a total of 5 maximum). 7. FAAB transactions before the All-Star game is limited to those players
that come from the other MLB League due to a trade, waiver, etc...
After the All-Star game any unclaimed player is eligible to be a FAAB.
Every team shall submit a secret bid to the transaction officer with his bid
for a player, highest bid wins the player. Ties go to the team lowest in the
standings. Priority will no longer go to the owner with a legitimate hole in
the roster. Any FAAB player won with a bid of $2.50 or more must be
maintained on that team's roster all season and any free agent won with a
bid of $2.50 or more can only be let go after the season by paying $10.00. Each team has $10.00 to spend on FAAB players for the year.
Minimum bid for a FAAB player is $.50. After the All-Star game there will
be no more call-ups from the free agent pool, all transactions will be FAABs. 8. The FAAB fee is $2.50 plus the amount of the bid. So a FAAB bid of
$1.00 on a player will cost the owner a total of $3.50. 9. A player claimed on waivers = $1.00, but his salary remains what it is
prior to being waived or $1.00 whichever is greater. 10. Each team is allowed two players to be September call-ups. Each player
costs = $5.00 and their salary for the next year is $2.50, should
you keep them. 11. Any team-owned minor leaguer called up costs = $1.00 and his future
salary is $.50. 12. The entrance fee for all owners is $27.00 payable before the start
of the auction. Please have your initial $27.00 at the auction, I hate
for the treasurer to have to track everybody down to get their money. 13. Starting in 97 the league voted in the monthly
category contest. Every owner must pay $2.00 a month to the treasurer for the monthly
category winner. The winner of that month’s category will receive
$20.
The category order will be determined after the auction by a random drawing.V. STANDINGS. In order to be eligible for any prize money a team must
have a minimum number of innings pitched (1300) and a minimum number
of at bats for batting average (5750).VI. FAAB TRANSACTIONS. If a team loses a player (traded) to the other
MLB League, that team's FAAB money pool is increased by the amount of
the salary of the lost player.VII. RESERVE LIST. Once a
reserved or minor league player is returned/placed on the major league
roster the rotisserie team that owns the player must activate him within 2 full
weeks (3 Mondays). If he is not activated in that time he is automatically
waived.VIII. TRADES. Trades may occur any time before the trading deadline,
but the two team's rosters must be maintained. The trading deadline is
August 31st, no trades can be made after that date. Trades will not include cash
or players to be named later, but may include minor leaguers. Any player traded
in the last year of his contract (option or long term) can have
his contract renegotiated with his new team. He may not be traded back to his
old team until after draft day of the following year.
Trades made in the off season may include any number of players
and rosters need not be maintained. Any trade during the season
that smells of collusion among owners will be voided.IX. TRANSACTIONS. 1. The deadline for weekly transactions is 9 PM every Monday.
Transactions not filed with the transaction officer by this time will
not count until the following week. 2. After the All-Star break with the FAAB
rules, the player goes to the highest bidder. A natural opening as a result of
a player on waivers, trades, or the disabled list will not take priority over a
FAAB transaction. In case of a tie between two or more teams FAABing the
same player from the free agent pool the team with the lowest standing
wins. 3. A player may only be the subject of one transaction per week,
i.e., a player cannot be activated from the DL and traded in the same week. 4. Any team wishing to do transactions must have money with the treasurer to
do so. If your account is $0.00 then your transaction will not be processed.
It’s up to each and every owner to ensure he has money with the treasurer
for his/her transactions. 5. After the August 31st trading deadline and the start of the Sept Call-Up period on Sept 1st,
the only transactions allowed will be injury replacements. The transaction fee
will not change however, the salary of those players will be $2.50 as with the Sept Called-Up players. 6. During the course of a season, any minor leaguer brought up to a MLB roster
and subsequently activated onto a roto team roster may be replaced by another MLB minor
leaguer onto the minor league system of that same team. If the minor leaguer is
not activated onto a roto team roster, he may not be replaced by another minor leaguer.
Any roto team minor leaguer who is waived due to not be activated after the
3 Monday deadline may not be replaced. A roto team minor leaguer
who is traded to the American League may be replaced IAW the above rule.
A roto team minor leaguer who is traded to another roto team team as part of a trade may not
be replaced IAW with the rule mentioned above. The replacement minor
leaguer must be named the same transaction period the initial minor leaguer is placed on the roto team roster.X. AUCTION DAY. Any player on a team roster or on a team's disabled list
on MLB's Opening Day is eligible for the auction. Once the auction is
over a player may not be selected from the disabled list. Up to five minor
league players may be drafted following the start of the season auction.
Draft order is per the
standings the previous year. Players placed on the DL prior to the start of the season
have priority of replacement over those players put on the DL
after the MLB season started and will be replaced after every team has 27
players (except for the rule listed next below) on it's roster. For the 27th roster
slot, that player may be part of the initial $27.00 or a team must pay $1.00
for that player (also his salary) at the end of the auction and after
the DL slots are filled.XI. DISCLAIMER. Every owner is responsible to know the basic rules as
laid out in the above fore-mentioned book and the ones listed on these
pages. The commissioner will be responsible to ensure that each owner
complies with the rules of the league to the best of his ability and
for the good of the league. The commissioner will be the deciding factor in
transaction decisions that are not effected by any rule’s violation. Any
transaction, that has the faintest smell of collusion by one or both parties
of a trade or a sense of apathy on a trading owners part because
he is out of competition will be voided. This league is designed
for everyone to have fun, I will not tolerate anyone who plans
to spoil that fun for the rest of us. If you cannot abide by these simple rules,
