Some important dates in Penguin History

June 5, 1967-Pittsburgh Penguins franchise joins the NHL.
June 9, 1984-Penguins draft Mario Lemieux, Doug Bodger, and Roger Belanger in first round of Entry Draft.
June 12, 1985-Lemieux wins the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL's top rookie.
December 5, 1989-Craig Patrick is named General Manager/Head Coach replacing Tony Esposito & Gene Ubriaco.
1990 Entry Draft-Jaromir Jagr is drafted. 1st choice; 5th overall at age 18.
January 21, 1990-Pgh's Civic Arena plays host to the NHL All-Star Game for the first time.
April 25, 1991-With a 4-1 win over Washington, the Pens win their first Patrick Division Playoff Championship.
May 11, 1991-Pens earn the right to play in their first Stanely Cup Championship series, beating Boston to capture their first ever Wales Conference Championship.
May 26, 1991-Penguins win first Stanely Cup Championship in Game 6 beating Minnesota, now Dallas, 4-2.
November 26, 1991-Known as the saddest day in Penguin History, Penguin Head Coach, Badger Bob Johnson, passes away at his home in Colorado Springs, Co. at the age of 60.
March 24, 1992-Lemieux records his 1,000th career NHL point at Detroit, in his 513th game, becoming the second fastest player to record 1,000 points in NHL history.
May 13, 1992-Pens defeat NY Rangers in 6 games to win Patrick Division Championship.
May 23, 1992-Pens defeat Boston in 4 games to win Wales Conf. Championship for the 2nd consecutive season.
June 1, 1992-Pens defeat Chicago in 4 games to win back-to-back Stanely Cup Championships.
April 3, 1993-Pens win their first ever President's Trophy as the NHL's best team with 5-3 win at Quebec.
May 3, 1995-Jaromir Jagr records one assist against Florida to win the 1994-95 NHL Scoring Title.
July 6, 1995-Ron Francis wins the Franke Selke Trophy and the Lady Byng Trophy.
October 26, 1995-Lemieux scores his 500th career goal against the NY Islanders.
February 4, 1997-Mario Lemieux scores his 600th NHL Career goal near the end of the 3rd period with a empty net goal.
March 4, 1997-Pens coach Eddie Johnson is demoted to a front office desk job and Craig Patrick is named Head Coach/GM once again.
March 12, 1997-Joey Mullen scores his 500th NHL career goal to be the first American-Born hockey player to ever reach 500 goals.
April 23, 1997-The Penguins come back and win a game after being down 3-0 in the Stanely Cup Playoffs against the Flyers.
