Taekwondo

After trying Shotokan Karate, and giving up on findin a Wado club, I decided to try something different - Taekwondo. I was always impressed with the flexibility of it's practicioners, and this was something I needed to work on.

As with most University clubs, the number of attendees was large. I can remember being in a sports hall with about seventy other people, trying to catch a demonstration or explanation. Aside from this, the lessons were great, being taught by the famous Kim Stones, of the TAGB.

The lessons consisted of basics (plenty of kicking), Kata and partner work. My flexibility did improve due to the large amount of kicking, and I actually took a grading.

Again though, my Wado Ryu background came through, I used to wait for people to attack with a Roundhouse kick and I used to counter with a simple punch to either the body or face. I returned to Blackpool for the summer vacation and resumed my Wado Ryu Karate.
