1999 Season Roster Moves



The Rockies send John Valentin, Keith Lockhart, Jay Buhner, and Billy McMillion to the Marlins for Jeff Kent, Cal Ripken, Brent Brede, and Joel Adamson

The Rockies send their first pick, Rafael  Medina, to the Angels for Paul Spoljaric and the Indians 6th round pick in 2000.

In a blockbuster, the long rumored trade of Bobby Higgenson has finally occurred.  Higgenson and Doug Strange were traded to the Chicago White Sox for Darin Erstad, Wendell Magee, and Ozzie Guillen.

The Rockies attempt to shore up the bullpen by acquiring Rod Beck and the Cubs 3rd round pick in 2000 from the Royals for Bill Simas and Scott Aldred

Addressing a weakness in the rotation, the Rockies acquire Mike Remlinger from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Pete Smith, Dave Clark, and their 3rd round pick in 2000.

In a role player swap, the Rockies send Brent Brede to the Angels in exchange for Damon Mashore.

The Rockies announce the signing of Doug Drabek.  He will be working out of the bullpen in Colorado.

The Rockies strengthen the bullpen with the acquisition of Al Levine from Anaheim in exchange for Mark Pisciotta

Rockies PROUDLY acquire Ruben Sierra from the Phillies for Bob Patterson.

The Rockies add veterans Paul Assenmacher and Jim Eisenreich from the Expos for pitchers Bill Risley and Chris Brock

In a late, major move, the Rockies acquire relievers Jim Corsi and Scott Service along with veteran OF John Cangelosi from the Royals in exchange for pitchers Paul Spoljaric and Shayne Bennett, outfielders Marc Newfield and Wendell Magee, and Cleveland's 6th round pick in 2000.

Rockes send Damon Mashore and Doug Jones to the Marlins for infielder Tim Bogar and pitcher Jimmy Key.

Rockies send Utility IF Ozzie Guillen to the Reds for Pat Kelly and the Detroit Tigers 3rd round pick.
