History

The Merrick Hitmen were bought by Keith Dvorchik in late 1998.  A formerly strong NAL team, the Hitmen had fallen on hard times and were in need of new ownership.  Bringing in GM Gene "Stick" Michael, the team began an aggressive rebuilding process.  During the off-season, the Hitmen were moved to Norwich, Connecticut, and renamed as the "Norwich Navigators".  The team is looking forward to being very competitive when they move into their new stadium in 2001.
