Canada is known as the Great White North or that place above the United States of America. However, in actuallity we have our own distinct cultures and traditions. Like everything else in this world, our culture is very complicated so I will try to keep this page as organized as possible.

First things first though, you should learn our National Anthem.

The music was originally composed by Calixa Lavallée in 1880 with French lyrics by Adolphe-Basile Routhier. Numerous English versions were proposed but the one that finally gained wide acceptance was by R. Stanley Weir in 1908. Weir's lyrics were modified slightly and became the official lyrics on July 1, 1980.
