In May of 1952, Regional Director, Aster Lee Henderson visited Lubbock at the request of 9 dynamic Deltas headed by Hazel Alexander. After her visit to Lubbock, Ms. Henderson noted in her report "I think this progressive Western city is an ideal spot for the expansion of Delta. The Sorors are quite enthusiastic and command the respect of the people of the community." A formal request was then submitted to National Headquarters on September 2, 1952. On the evening of Saturday, November 15, 1952, the Delta Xi Sigma chapter was chartered in Lubbock, Texas. Soror Henderson's first observation of the charter members in 1952 still rings true for today's Lubbock chapter.
