11 July-17 July
This week started off quiet, but picked up with the activity in the Green Zone. We started with numerous trips to BIAP (Baghdad International Airport) to pick up and drop off soldiers for the Rest and Recuperation program. This gives soldiers the opportunity to go home for 15 days, take a 5-day trip to Qatar, or spend 4 days at Freedom's Rest; the 1st Cavalry Divisoin sponsored hotel here in the Green Zone. Also, the Green Zone as we all know it is now called the International Zone, so that's another big life altering military terminology lesson for the week.

The mechanics have been busy with the day to day operations and have gone to reverse cycle work scheduling in order to try and work more efficiently; with the temperatures reaching in upwards of 120 degrees, it's often hard to actually handle the equipment as it tends to heat up.
Support Platoon continues to bear the brunt on the missions here and there, with fuel, ammo, water, and BIAP runs keeping everyone on their feet.
The DFAC did one outstanding job supporting the company with their 4th of July cookout (pics up on the webshots page) and continue to keep our stomachs full.
Recovery has had an interesting week, supporting the BIAP runs and having a few recovery missions, to include a few out in the Red Zone to assist other units in vehicle recovery. They call, Recovery hauls. Oh, and SSG Watson is still crying about losing Shaq to the Miami Heat.
The HQ Platoon is working hard to ensure that all the paperwork, promotions and NCOER's get turned in and work on future promotions and awards.
