Biography

I'm Loren Collins, a 27 year old native of Stone Mountain, Georgia. I live in metro Atlanta, where I'm currently a practicing attorney.

I am a "Double Dawg," having also earned my Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Religion from the University of Georgia in 2001, and my Juris Doctor from the UGA School of Law in 2004. Delving a little further into times past, I graduated from Greater Atlanta Christian School in 1997, where I was class salutatorian.

I'm still getting a grasp on what substitutes for extracurricular activities in adult life, as I've had a broad history with activities. In college I was involved in political groups (including the Federalist Society and the College Libertarians), student activity organizations (Cinematic Arts and Ideas & Issues), and my church group, the Georgia Christian Student Center. Back in high school, I was active in the math team, academic team, Mock Trial, and more. I've sung in several choruses, including UGA's African-American Choral Ensemble and the Stone Mountain Barbershop Chorus, played both clarinet and alto saxophone in the band, and even taken a stab at drama during law school. I also had a long tenure with the Boy Scouts, culminating in my earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 1996.

I am a self-confessed geek, albeit a fairly conservative one. I read comic books, I enjoy animation and the work of Jim Henson, and I'm rather fond of novelty songs and the music of Weird Al Yankovic. Last year I created Suspension of Disbelief, a group blog that critiques the treatment of real-world subjects in comics. My leading specialty is, naturally, the presentation and use of the law in comic books.
