Portfolio: Web Design work:
In addition to this site, you can see my first two attempts
at web design. They provided experience in learning the skills and challenges of web
publishing. (Due to lack of space, not all the links work.)
- The Edge of Austin:
Designed and edited e-zine for Online Journalism class. Experience developing an idea and
managing a group in an online environment.
- UT Water Ski Team:
Designed site as part of recruiting campaign. Created with Photoshop and a word processor,
this site was originally written and maintained strictly in html. Its real value to me was
in discovering who was using the site and why, and then adapting the content to serve in
recruiting for the team, establishing regular visitors, and increasing publicity for the
team. This is a mirror of the page as it appeared before I handed the official UT Water Ski site over to my
PR successor. I'm proud to say, it's come a long way since its inception.
Disclaimer: When I graduated from UT, I owned two
domain names that featured more advanced designs and followed more current trends.
Unfortunately, while I was in Europe, the company hosting them went out of business and my
hard drive decided to follow suit. So, I am left only with these three geocities-hosted
sites. In the antediluvian era in which I created them, scalable meant easy-to-reproduce
buttons and functional meant alt tags and keeping graphics to the minimal pixels per inch.
You can at least see my initial stages of progress, and that I know my way around the
basics of Photoshop, html and javascript.
